We had been practicing like crazy, although I kept quiet about the whole "Momona has an evil plan" thingy because it shouldn't affect them, right? I hoped I was right.
But finally, we were here—the finals. And we were so going to win.
The energy backstage was electric.
Everyone could feel the tension, the excitement, the anticipation. We had worked so hard for this moment, and I could see it in my bandmates' eyes: they were ready.
Mina was bouncing on her heels, her vibrant pink hair catching the light, while Kami and Kiri were going over last-minute adjustments to their instruments. Kacchan, as usual, was quietly focused, his scowl more intense than ever.Eclipse had just finished their performance, and the crowd was still buzzing from the intensity they brought to the stage. Momona, their lead singer, was as flashy as ever, commanding the audience with an air of arrogance that made my skin crawl.
He strutted off the stage, casting a sneering glance in my direction as he passed.I ignored him, focusing instead on the upcoming performance. We had two songs prepared, songs that we had poured our hearts and souls into.
This was our moment, and I wasn't going to let anyone take it away from us."Ready, guys?" I asked, giving them a reassuring smile.
"Born ready!" Kami grinned, giving me a thumbs-up.
"Let's crush this!" Mina added, her eyes gleaming with determination.
Kiri nodded, his usual determination even stronger now. "Let's give it everything we've got."
Kacchan just grunted, but there was a fire in his eyes that told me he was just as ready as the rest of us. I felt a surge of confidence. This was it.
We were about to step onto the stage when the spotlight suddenly shifted. A voice rang out over the speakers, freezing us in our tracks.
"Hey, sorry for the interruption, but we have a present for Deku."
It was Momona, his voice dripping with fake sincerity. My heart sank. I had no idea what he was up to, but I knew it wasn't good.
Before I could react, a figure stepped onto the stage, and the world around me seemed to slow down. My blood ran cold as I recognized the man standing in the spotlight.
My father.
Hisashi Midoriya.
The man who had abandoned me and my mother, leaving us to fend for ourselves while he chased his own ambitions. The man whose betrayal had shattered my family, sending my mother into a spiral of despair that eventually drove her away from Japan.
The crowd, oblivious to the history between us, erupted into polite applause, but all I could hear was the roaring in my ears. I felt like I was suffocating, trapped in a nightmare I couldn't wake up from.
My father smiled at the audience, playing the part of the concerned, loving parent.
"I'm so proud of my son," he said, his voice smooth and practiced. "It's been years since we've seen each other, and I wanted to surprise him on this special night."I couldn't move.
I couldn't breathe.
Everything I had worked for, everything I had fought to build, was unraveling right in front of me.
I had spent years trying to forget him, trying to erase the pain he caused, and now he was here, on the stage, in front of everyone.I saw the worry on my bandmates' faces, but they didn't know what to do let alone what was wrong.
How could they?
They didn't know the full story, the depth of the wounds my father had left behind. From the corner of my eye, I saw Aizawa in the audience, his expression unreadable.
My my mom was with him, and I felt a pang of guilt.
They had brought her here, to support me, to see me shine.
And now, she had to watch as the man who had broken our family reappeared out of nowhere.
