Katsuki POV
I don't know how he did it—how he managed to hide all that pain for so many years.
Watching him sing now, pouring every ounce of emotion into each note, I let my body go on autopilot, my eyes fixed on him.Deku was giving it his all, as always. But this time, it felt different. If I hadn't already known he was the best, I sure as hell knew it now. His voice reached everyone in that audience, and I could see it in their faces—the tears, the way they clung to each other as if trying to hold onto the raw emotion he stirred in them.
My gaze shifted to Inko, standing just off to the side. Her eyes brimmed with tears, but unlike the sadness that had been there earlier, now they burned with something fierce: pride.
When Izuku finished the song, he barely made it offstage before he was running. I don't think anyone could blame him for that. I certainly didn't.
"Oi, extras, you three stay here," I barked at the rest of the band, my voice gruff. I didn't wait for their replies before I followed him.
As I stepped backstage, I saw them—Izuku and his mom, wrapped in each other's arms, tears streaming down both their faces. It was a sight that made something tight and painful clench in my chest.
"He never told you guys, did he?" Aizawa's voice came from beside me, quiet but certain.
"No, the bastard didn't," I muttered, unable to tear my eyes away from the scene before me.
"When he first considered joining a band, he was dead set against it," Aizawa continued, his voice calm, almost reflective. "But when he saw the list and noticed your name on it, something changed. I think the idea of seeing you again... it made him reconsider."
I frowned, remembering the Deku from back then, even though it hadn't been that long ago. But it felt like years.
"He's definitely swearing less," Aizawa mused, as if talking to himself. "And he seems... happier."
I stayed quiet, just watching as Inko gently pulled back from the hug, her hand cupping Izuku's tear-streaked cheek.
"I'm so proud of you, baby," she whispered, her voice full of love and admiration. "You've come so far."
"There's no way I could've done that without my band up there with me," Izuku admitted, his voice soft, still laced with lingering emotion.
Inko's smile widened. "Still relying on Katsuki, I see. It's good to know you two have made up."
"I agree," I said, stepping forward, my voice causing Izuku to jump slightly. His cheeks flushed a soft red as he turned to me, wide-eyed.
"K-Kacchan," he stuttered, trying to gather himself. "H-how long were you standing there?"
"The whole time," Aizawa answered with a smirk before gently guiding Inko away. "Come on, Inko, let's leave the boys to talk." With that, they disappeared, leaving me alone with Deku.
"When I get my hands on that copy-cat bastard, I'm gonna skin him," I growled, stepping closer and pulling Izuku into a tight hug, burying my face in his unruly green curls.
The familiar scent of him calmed the storm of emotions raging inside me."You don't have to," Izuku mumbled, his voice muffled against my chest.
"I know, but it'll be fun," I grumbled, refusing to let go.
"He's not worth the jail time," Deku said softly, pulling back just enough to look up at me with those big, innocent green eyes.
"He hurt what's mine, and I don't take kindly to that," I hissed, searching his face for any sign of fear or doubt.
"W-what do you mean by 'what's mine'?" he stuttered again, his face growing even redder.
I rolled my eyes, a smirk tugging at the corner of my lips. "God, you stutter a lot." Before he could say anything else, I leaned down and pressed my lips to his, capturing the words on his tongue.
The kiss was a culmination of everything left unsaid, everything we'd been through. It wasn't gentle, but it wasn't rough either—it was just right. It was everything I'd wanted to say but couldn't put into words.
When we finally broke apart, both of us breathless, I rested my forehead against his, refusing to let go. "You're mine, Deku. And I'll protect you from anyone who tries to hurt you, even if it's your own damn father."
He didn't respond with words, just wrapped his arms around me, holding me as tightly as I was holding him.
"Thanks Kacchan" Izuku mumbles into my chest.
Sorry for the short chapter.
