My transformation into my wolf form was swift and fluid, a seamless shift driven by raw emotion. The familiar sensation of my paws hitting the ground was usually comforting, but now it only fueled my anger and determination. The forest blurred past me, a mere shadow of green and brown, as I raced towards the packhouse.
How could he?
As I neared the packhouse, I felt a surge of power. The connection to my wolf was a double-edged sword; it heightened my senses but also intensified my rage. And I wasn't quite good at containing that rage. Ignoring the worried calls and attempts of pack members to reach me, I barreled through the trees, my focus solely on my destination.
Reaching the packhouse, I skidded to a halt, shifting back to my human form. My skin prickled with tension as I stormed inside, my heart pounding with a mix of anger and betrayal. The door slammed into the wall, already off it's hinges.
How could you?
The scene before me was starkly different from the tranquility of the forest. Declan sat at the table, his posture slumped and defeated, while Alani and Abel engaged in a heated discussion. The atmosphere was thick with unspoken tension, and as I entered, the conversation halted abruptly.
How could all of you?
Declan's eyes met hers, filled with a mix of surprise and guilt. Alani and Abel looked up, their faces registering shock as the reality of my fury dawned on them. They knew. They knew I found out.
They knew...
My presence was like a storm unleashed. The room seemed to pulse with my anger.
I noticed their discussion.
Their heated expression.
Declan's eyes filled with regret.
It had happened already.
The tree really showed her.
He betrayed me...
My voice, sharp and echoing with betrayal, cut through the silence. I was trying to get it together, to appear strong. "So this is what it's come to?" My words were barely contained, laced with an edge of fury that made the air around them very tense.
Declan's face paled, his hands gripping the edge of the table as if trying to anchor himself in the midst of the storm. "Lucille—"
"Don't you dare," I interrupted, my voice rising. "Don't you dare try to explain. I've seen it all. I know what you've done."
You're my mate...
My gaze swept over Alani and Abel, my eyes blazing with accusation. My hands were trembling, my claws already formed."And you two? You knew. You all lied to me. For how long? How could you betray me like this?"
My anger erupted, my words like fire spilling from my lips. It felt as if my whole being was a cauldron of rage, the heat of my emotions making her skin feel tight and her heart ache with each breath.
"You think you can just lie to me, deceive me, and then continue as if nothing happened? Declan, you were supposed to be my mate. How could you do this? How could you betray me so completely?" She was shaking from anger.
From betrayal.
Declan tried to stand, his voice trembling. "Lucille, I'm—"
"No!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the room. "I don't want to hear your excuses. Not now. Not ever. I begged you, never lie to me again. And yet, you do?"
You all lie, lie, lie!
Her gaze fell upon Abel and Alani, and she could see their guilt reflected in their eyes. "And you," she spat at them, "how could you allow this to happen? You were supposed to be my friends, my family. And yet, you chose to lie too and cover up his betrayal."
