Chapter 9

Matured content, trigger warning

Nefetari looked down at the two lines on her pregnancy test. She looked at it for a good while. She was sitting on the toilet, and couldn't believe what she was seeing. She knew she was feeling sick but she never knew that it was because she had life within her. She took deep breathes. This was the third time, the third baby that survived and hopefully, she prays it'll fully be hers. She would do anything to grasp and touch the little one, honoring the little angels she had lost.

"This is it." Nefetari's voice quivered as she rubbed her stomach softly, she didn't know who she would talk to about this. She wanted to hide this from everyone. Hillary was out of her thought but she wanted to see her. Maybe for the last time. This would be her final dumb decision. She would not be a woman who would kneel down and ask for a lover to change. She felt sullen, of course. She had clearly lost the one she could rely on.

It's scary how married couples take a vow they would break one day. Leaving the other one grasping onto hope.

It was scary to get married with the fullest assurance it was you until death but there was someone else making their soul burn in such fancy way. Just as when you thought you would be the 'one', there would be 'someone'.

It was a martyr take, Nymph was too traumatized to see herself in Yelena's state, her lovely cousin. Yelena suffered so much. It may offend Yelena if her cousin knew but Nymph doesn't want to end up like Yelena. All broken, martyr, and selfless. No, Nymph knew her difference. No matter how much she loves someone, spoils them and is the best in front of them. Once she felt like she was not needed anymore, she'd gladly take her bags.

And leave.

It was still painful to think about it tho.

Nymph found herself making a call after she took a bath. She called her doctor, the doctor who was part of all procedures and checkups. The one who saw how desperate they were to have a child. "Yes. I'd like to plan a schedule to meet with you, Doctor Tatiana." She nodded her head and looked outside the buildings from afar.

Nymph looked blank, she was thin and pale. She had barely eaten but knew she had life within her. She needed to fend for herself. She needed to try and eat, yet she would never tell her sisters of what was up ith her sudden appetite. Nefetari found herself so lost in things, it was a wrong time.

She rubbed her stomach, her heart sank as she breathed in. She tried to calm herself down. It hurts so much to think about how she would instantly share this news to Hillary. But she doesn't have her Hillary anymore.

This was what they waited for all their lives, knowing this was the last and final one. Nefetari hoped for this baby to be hers fully. Not just an experience within her womb. She couldn't help but softly sob and clutched her chest. This was what Hillary wanted for them. She hated how it had come to an end, a very sad and betraying way of doing so. Nymph knew she never deserved pain but she still thinks she had did something so wrong that the gods punished her for such sin.

Nymph already could not handle waking up in bed, she knows this isn't her house but her sister's but she was so used of waking up in a marital bedroom with her wife staring at her lovingly, rubbing her cheek and kissing her softly. It was something Nymph ached to have all over again but she couldn't anymore.

"I'm sorry." Nymph sat down on the edge of the bed as she put her hand to her face as she sobbed, she felt guilty and in remorse at the thought of the baby not having enough love, not growing up with the other parent by their side. She knew she should force herself to stay and reason with Hillary but she couldn't handle the pain of the revelation.
