Chapter 20

Hillary's nose was red for a good hour. The kids have already gone to sleep and Hillary was sitting on the living room's couch. She couldn't bustle with the right words to say, she'd just hiccup and sob again. Nymph was rather at ease when Hillary had slightly calmed down from the random breakdown. She was beside her on the couch, putting some antiseptic on her bruise.

"You scared me back there. I thought the twins bullied you or something." Nymph tries to crack a joke whilst Hillary dabbed a tissue on her nose. She was basically sniffling. Hillary's bruised wrist didn't hurt as much, it felt nice to feel Nymph's touch tho Hillary couldn't help but be disgusted for herself. Hillary had always felt undeserving of Nymph's touch after that horrid day. Nymph was treating her nicely, of course. The woman could only feel at ease.

"They can be unhinged sometimes." Nymph continued as their laughs chorused. They were basically witnesses of how the twins act. They're the most chaotic little ones and their energy was unmatched. Tho they are kind and loving, being a baby meant they have very dark intrusive and impulsive thoughts.

Hillary smiled and shook her head."No, they didn't do anything bad." She assured her.

The night was deep, it was basically the two of them wide awake. Sitting next to each other on the big couch, behind the open window across the sight of the lovely moonlight. The city was quiet but the lights never faded. Hillary softly looked at Nymph, her hand ached to touch her somehow but twitched before she could even move closer.

Hillary cleared her throat and looked away when Nymph finished up. "I just..." She paused and sighed.

"It felt right to cry." She said in full honestly, it felt so right to cry infront of the person she trusts the most all through out. Nymph was still that person to Hillary. The one she could lean on, the pillar, her light. Hillary kept her hand to herself as Nymph raised her brows at her statement.

"Why? Did something bad happen?" Nymph narrowed her eyes after she placed down the medicine kit on the other side of the table, she crossed her arms as she continued to look at Hillary to let her tell her about it.

Hillary rolled her eyes finding such an act so nostalgic to see. "I just miss a feeling." She confessed. The soft breeze of the wind touches their cheek. It was a chilly night but their conversation sets them off to another feeling.

Nefetari raised her brows before leaning against the back of the couch. "Uhuh? What's that supposed to be?" The younger woman's lip twitched in anticipation. Hillary's mouth opened as she breathes out a short laugh then ultimately, she shook her head proceeding to speak.

Hillary looked a the light bulb above the ceiling, the slightly flickering light. This small house, she never thought of setting foot to such a place. A place where her loved one lies. "This..." Hillary swallowed as her eyes lingered slowly on Nymph alone. Hillary's breath hitched gazing at such a beauty, a soft light. She still lingers within her dark world. Specs of her light, still there.

"You." Hillary ended. Silence glamoured the whole space within their reach. Nymph's heart pounded, eyes slightly widening as she looks at Hillary. Wondering if the woman was serious with her own words. Nymph waited for a mocking laugh, a grin of prank. There was none. Hillary was dead serious, making Nymph's lips twitch as she looked down.

Nymph's voice shaked. "Hillary-"

Hillary cutted her off. "I know, I know you don't want me anymore. I just want to say I miss you." She said in a hushed tone and breathed. Nymph's gaze softened at Hillary's words.

Hillary smiled as she remembered the day she saw Nymph again. "The first time I saw you again. I miss you." Hillary said as she reached towards Nymph's hand but stopped herself.

Nymph looked down then shook her head. "No, you can't. No..." Her voice was soft and broken, the tone was filled with confusion and vulnerability making Hillary feel guilty for saying the truth but she cannot simply shut her heart out.

Nymph looked at Hillary as she shakes her head. "Don't do this to me, please." Nymph pleaded, hoping this would be just Hillary's stupid prank to make her heart race like crazy.
