JJ - 18

Getting ready for graduation was more nerve-wracking than I had expected. I stood in front of the mirror, trying to get my tie right, but my fingers just wouldn't cooperate. "God, I hate this."

Mom stepped in, her hands effortlessly straightening the tie for me. "You're going to look so handsome tonight," she beamed. "Oh, Jieun, honey, come finish up for me. I need to get the camera."

Jieun appeared in the doorway, looking hesitant. "Uh, alright," she said and slowly walked over towards me, taking over. Once Mom was out of the room, she smiled, "Excited?"

"Yeah, I think... I'm just happy it's finally over."

"What about... Yoojung?"

"She's looking forward to it too," I answered, and watched her hands as she adjusted the tie, noticing the slight tremble. "Why are your hands shaking?"

She froze for a moment before continuing, avoiding my gaze. "I'm cold."

We both knew that wasn't true. I reached out and held her hands, feeling the twitching in her fingers. "Jieun..."

Her hands were indeed cold, and I felt a slight shudder running up on my own body. The way she tried not to look at me, the sensation of holding her, feeling her pulse through my fingertips, made my heart hammer.

There was so much I wanted to do, and every single one was something I couldn't. It was so hard to keep my mind clear when she smelled so nice and felt so good against me. It was torture.

I tightened my grip on her hands, trying to steady them, but it didn't work. Her eyes met mine, and I could see the battle in them. She always felt it too, this strange, undeniable pull.

Jieun bit her lip, looking down at our joined hands. "I'm fine, Jungkook..."

Part of me, the part that hadn't caught up to the moment and was still lost in my desire for her, was thrilled at the thought of her having these reactions every time we were this close, which wasn't happening very often. And that part nearly made me smile.

"Are you nervous?" I asked, my thumb gently brushing over her knuckles.

"No..."

"Feels like you are."

Mom's voice didn't let her answer.

"Alright, picture time!" she called out cheerfully, coming back into the room.

I let go of Jieun's hands and stepped back, annoyed. Mom and Dad insisted on taking what felt like a hundred pictures, making me pose in various awkward positions, including with Jieun.
