LJ - 18

It seemed that I was standing on the edge of a cliff, staring down at the wreckage that had become my life. Every day without Jungkook was unbearable. It was strange how the house could feel so empty, even when it was filled with the sound of my mother moving around.

She hadn't looked me in the eyes since we were caught. The look on her face was cold and judgmental like I was something broken that couldn't ever be repaired.

But I missed him. Every part of me missed him.

Each night, I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, running through every moment we'd shared and the fact that we were on opposite sides of a glass wall and that no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't reach him.

Then, one day, my phone lit up.

💬 "I'm waiting for you at our place. Come now."

My stomatch dropped. Jungkook.

I didn't hesitate. Quickly slipping out of bed, I threw on some clothes before I carefully made my way out of the house and hurried to the abandoned train. The path was familiar and short, and with every step, the anticipation grew stronger. I needed to see him—more than anything.

When I walked inside, I saw him standing there, waiting for me. In a heartbeat, I was already running to him, and he pulled me into his arms. His lips were on mine in seconds, and for a moment, everything felt right again.

"I miss you so much," I whispered, resting my head against his chest, breathing him in.

"I know," he murmured, holding me tighter. "I miss you too."

We sat down on one of the old train seats, and for a while, we just stayed quietly there before Jungkook leaned back, his eyes on mine, and I could see the worry etched on his face. "I need to talk to you."

I looked at him, dread curling in my chest. "About what?"

"I've decided... I'm going to college somewhere else."

The words hit me like a punch to the gut. "What? No. No, Jungkook, you can't—"

"Me being here, it's making everything worse, Jieun."

"No," I shook my head, my eyes already filling with tears. "How is leaving going to fix anything? We're already acting like strangers, and it's killing me. How can you go even farther away?"

He held me by my jaw, making sure I was looking right into his eyes. "I'll come back. I'll drive here every weekend if I have to. But we need to give them time. If I stay, nothing will get better."

I pulled his hands away, standing up as the tears finally rolled down. "You think if you leave, our parents are just going to forget? They're never going to accept us, Jungkook! Never! They've made that clear. Mom, at least, has."

"Jieun," he stood up as well, grabbing my arm to stop me from walking away. "Listen to me. It's not like I want this, and I'm not leaving you. I'm doing this for us. We have to let things cool off, or we'll never have a chance."

"It feels like you're giving up on me..."

He closed his eyes for a second, letting out a breath, then pulled me into his arms again, resting his chin on my head. "I would never give up on you... We just gotta play this smart. If we push too hard, we'll lose everything. We need to give it time, let them adjust. I'll make it work, I promise... This will help them realize we're serious. Trust me."

"I don't know if I can do this," I sniffed. "I don't know how to keep going without you."

"You're stronger than you think," he said softly, his hand running through my hair. "And I'm not going anywhere. I'll be back all the time. This is just temporary."

The word "temporary" felt hollow, it didn't hold any real comfort. Though I clung to him anyway because, at that moment, he was the only thing holding my pieces together.

"I love you," I whispered, my tears soaking into his shirt.

"I love you too," he whispered back, pulling back to kiss me. "And we're going to get through this. One way or another."

We stayed on that train for over an hour, just holding each other in the darkness. I didn't want to leave. I didn't want to go back to that house, to the silence and the cold stares.

But for him, I had to be strong, just like he was for me.
