LJ - 17

Jungkook's girlfriend was everywhere now. She was always around, always smiling, always talking. Every time I saw her, it felt like she was invading my space, and it drove me insane. She had this way of inserting herself into every situation, and I hated it.

One Saturday afternoon, she was over at our house again, lounging in the living room with Jungkook. They were talking, completely absorbed in each other. I walked past them, trying to act nonchalant, but it was hard not to feel the jealousy as I watched them together.

"Hey, Jieun!" Yoojung called out cheerfully. "How's it going?"

I forced a smile. "Hey, Yoojung. I'm good, just busy with school stuff."

Jungkook glanced at me, scratching his brow. "Yeah, she's been pretty swamped with her art projects."

"That's so cool! I'd love to see some of your work sometime."

"Sure," I answered, though the idea of showing her my drawings made me feel sick. "Maybe later."

I quickly retreated to my room, needing some distance to clear my head. It was hard enough dealing with my illogical feelings for Jungkook without having to see him with Yoojung all the time. I threw myself into my skets after that, hoping it would help me forget them.

"So, how's it going with that senior you've been seeing?" Chaeyoung asked later that week during lunch.

I shrugged. "It's okay, I guess. He's nice, but I don't really see a future with him."

"Why not?" Mina said. "You seemed into him at first after things didn't work out with Chan."

"I don't know," I sighed. "It's like something's missing. I can't put my finger on it."

Chaeyoung exchanged a knowing look with Mina. "Don't tell me you're still missing Jinyoung..."

I rolled my eyes. "No, it's not that. Jinyoung was ages ago. It's different. I thought I liked this guy, but every time we're together, it feels... strange."

Mina leaned forward, sucking on her strawberry juice. "Well, if that's the case, then don't force it. Break this off with him before it's too late... he might get attached or something."

"Yeah," Chaeyoung agreed. "Don't settle for less than what you want."

Their words stayed in my mind for the rest of the day and as I made my way back home. They were right. I couldn't force myself to feel something that wasn't there. And deep down, I knew the reason why I couldn't fully invest in anyone else.

That evening, I found myself talking to my father about my future in his office. It was something that needed to be brought it up one day or another and for some reason I couldn't wait any longer.
