Azani
Omniscient POV
Azani's hands laid loosely crossed over her chest, as she slightly leaned against a metal pillar.
The subway station was bustling with noise, and the low rumbles of distant trains could be heard echoing throughout the air.
She sighed in frustration as she glanced at the digital display that sat just above the platform, for what felt like the hundredth time. Her eyes flickered with impatience as she took note of the big red words that were imprinted across the screen.
TRAIN DELAYED.
Another exasperating sigh involuntarily escaped her lips, as she began restlessly tapping her foot against the concrete floor. In this very moment, she felt as if waiting for her train was beginning to turn into an endless loop of torture.
With each passing minute, Azani's frustration grew deeper, and she couldn't help but feel as if the weight of the world was pressing against her shoulders.
Why were so many fucked up things happening to her today?
Her day at work was complete bullshit, and now she had to stand in a congested area with a bunch of ugly people. Worst of all, her train was running almost thirty minutes late and she was dying to go home.
Azani slowly scanned her surroundings, looking at each person in the subway station with complete disgust.
She was feeling extremely irritable due to all the bad luck she was receiving.
All of the problems she encountered were adding layers to her experience, and she was feeling ten times worse than before.
Azani slouched her shoulders as she took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself to continue her excruciating wait, but just as she was about to accept her misfortune...
She hears it- the distant rumbling became increasingly louder as the approaching train continued driving forward, its bright headlights illuminating the surrounding landscape.
Azani quickly straightened her posture and adjusted her bag, ensuring that it sat comfortably on her shoulders, before finding her place in the midst of the small crowd that was slowly beginning to form at the edge of the platform.
The train then came to a sudden halt, its doors slowly sliding open.
She quickly stepped forward, her shoes making a gentle thud as she crossed the threshold onto the train.
She then took a brief moment to observe her surroundings.
At this point, the train was only slightly crowded, and several seats were still available. Azani slowly scanned the empty row of seats, before spotting one right near the window.
Perfect!
She slowly maneuvered her way through the standing passengers, before quickly taking a seat.
Once comfortably seated, she took a moment to adjust her bag, ensuring it was nestled securely onto her lap.
In one swift motion, she then unzipped its main compartment and retrieved her earbuds along with her phone.
With a flick of her thumb, she pressed the power button on her phone, watching the screen illuminate with life. As soon as her lock screen appeared, she was immediately greeted with a notification.
NOTIFICATION: 1 missed call from Naja
Azani sighed as she read over the message.
She would definitely call her back, but...she was in public right now.
