What the Heart Wants

Chapter Three

I sat in maths trying my best to focus but completely failing. Everything Mrs Moon was saying just went in one ear and back out the other. I don't know why I was like this. Maths is my favourite subject so normally I always pay attention. But not today. Today my mind was just somewhere else.

The bell finally went after what seemed like an eternity. I quickly stuffed my books in my bag, slung it over my shoulder and swiftly made my way out of class. I was making my way towards my locker when I walked into something hard. For a minute I thought I'd walked into a wall. That was until I looked up.

I saw those two deep, never ending pools of chocolate looking into me. Once again I was paralyzed. I don't know how he managed to have this affect on me when we'd never even spoken. But he did. I couldn't take my eyes off him. He was just so beautiful.

"Excuse me? Em.. are you all right?"

Quickly I shook my head and snapped out of it. I looked up at Alex and realised I'd probably been staring at him for at least five minutes. God, I must have looked like such an idiot.

"Um yea, I'm fine. Sorry I've just been a bit out of it today," I mumbled back. "You're the new guy, Alex, right?"

"Yea, and you are?"

"I'm Lucy."

"Well it's nice to meet you, Lucy."

We chatted for a bit. He told me about his old school and how he got kicked out. I then  remembered what Sophie had told me. All that went through my mind was "Player. Player. Player. Player. Player." It was a shame because I felt that we were really hitting it off as well.

"Hey you live on the lane don't you? Now I know why I recognised you! You're that girl who was walking her dog the day I moved in, right?" My face began to burn red. I don't even know why I was embarrassed. It was probably because he caught me staring at him that day as well. He must think I'm so weird. I mentally slapped myself for being such a freak.

Alex didn't seem to notice me mentally face palming myself over and over again so just carried on talking. "Do you walk to school? Maybe we could walk together? It'd be nice to have some company."

"Um, yea," was all I managed to stutter out. I mentally face palmed myself yet again. Why did I have to be so awkward? Yea, he was one of the sexiest men alive but this was just uncalled for. I never got this nervous around people!

"Great, so I'll pick you up tomorrow around eight? And maybe we could walk home together today as well?"

"Yea, that'd be great! Can't wait, see you then!" Okay now I was trying too hard. Why couldn't I just behave like a normal person?

With that Alex gave me a smile and walked off. I watched him walk away. My eyes full of pure lust and desire.

"What's gotten into you?" I heard Sophie question from behind me which caused me to jump. She glanced over to where I was looking just seconds before and gave me a knowing smile. She'd caught me. She knew I was looking at Alex. My cheeks started heating up. Sophie looked at me with her eyebrows raised waiting for me to explain. So I told her everything. All about how I couldn't focus in maths up to Alex asking me to walk him to school. By the end she was practically screaming.

 "I knew you two would get together! Aren't you so glad you listened to me and gave him a chance?!"

"Calm down, Sophs. Nothings going on. And besides, I still think he's a total player."

"Ugh, you're so negative! And I think you mean that nothings going on yet."

I just rolled my eyes at her and made my way to my next class. I was going to be late. Again. Today was just not my day.

Okay so I've decided not to re-write anymore of my chapters right now. I'm just going to reupload them right now and maybe once the book is finished I might go back and redo the ones I'm not happy with.
