I didn’t get much sleep last night. My mind was literally spinning with all those questions that were buzzing around in it. And on top of that, I was totally stressing out about the chemistry test.  I couldn’t afford to fail it. Urgh there was just so much to think about! No wonder I didn’t sleep much last night.

I forced myself to get up and dragged myself out of bed. Great. I had eye bags. I bet that looks attractive… I walked to the bathroom and hopped into the shower. Hopefully that would wake me up slightly. I threw my hair up in a bun and stripped off my pyjamas. Well… my underwear. For some reason I just couldn’t be bothered getting changed last night. I stepped into the shower and almost screamed. It was like ice. Just perfect. It hadn’t warmed up yet. I stood there shivering and decided just to bite the bullet and take a cold shower. The cold water pounded my back.  It was like showering in hail stones. I quickly washed and just as I was about to step out the water started to heat up. Are you freaking kidding me right now?! I just turned it off, yanked my towel off the radiator and stormed back to my room. I threw on my uniform and then went over to my dressing table. I stared at myself in the mirror for what seemed like forever. I looked awful. I’d have to be quite the makeup artist to make myself look presentable. It’s a shame I wasn’t. I applied some concealer under my eyes to try and hide the big black circles that stuck out like a sore thumb against my snow white skin.  I didn’t need any blusher because my cheeks were naturally very pink/red. I then put on about three different mascaras to try and lengthen my stubby eyelashes. After that all I needed was some lip gloss or something. I pulled out my raspberry lip balm and dabbed some of that on. I pulled my hair out and ruffled it a bit. I checked in the mirror and thought it was a definite improvement but I still didn’t look too good. And on top of that I was in a foul mood due to my lack of sleep and ice shower.

I slipped on my shoes, flung on my blazer and slung my bag over my shoulder before making my way downstairs. My mum was standing behind the counter chopping fruit of some sort. Apple maybe? I hugged her side and pecked her on the cheek. “That’s me away, bye mum.”

“Bye sweetie.”

I walked over to the door and pulled it open. I stepped outside and went to close it behind me but ended up slamming it. Oops. I guess I was just taking my aggression out on everything this morning. I started walking down the lane with a scowl on my face. I stormed straight past everyone, not bothering to wave until I heard a familiar voice calling from behind me…

“Lucy! Wait up! Slow down!”

I turned around to see Alex running towards me with a smile on his face. He looked so perfect. After one glance at him all my anger from before seemed to melt away. He gave me his signature grin before asking “Are you okay? You seem a little upset.” I just gazed at him totally star struck. He was so amazing; he was actually concerned about me.

“I’m amazing,” I said my voice full of lust. Alex just laughed at me which caused me to snap out of whatever trance I was in. “Well as amazing as a person can be after the morning I’ve just had..”

“Aw, do you wanna talk about it?” So I told him everything. From my eye bags to my cold shower.

“Y-yo- you had a co-cold sh-shower?” he managed to choke out between laughs. I hit him in the arm and gave him my best I’m-not-happy look. “S-s-sorry,” he laughed back at me. That earned him a full on whack.

“It’s not funny!”

“Hey, watch the guns,” he said rubbing his biceps and trying to look seductive. I just rolled my eyes at him. “And c’mon Lucy, you have to admit, it’s a little funny.  I mean I know guys take cold showers all the time, but I just didn’t think you’d be into that kind of stuff!” He started guffawing again. I just turned my head, flicking him in the face with my hair and marched off.

I only made it about two metres before I heard a wolf whistle from behind me. I cocked my head around to see Alex totally checking me out and nodding his head. “What?” I groaned at him.

“Mmm, that ass! You totally wiggle that when you storm off! It’s a pretty nice view I must say,” He said giving me a wink.

I giggled at his attempt at being flirtatious. He started coming towards me and closed the gap between us in just a few short strides. He put his hands on my shoulder and used his index fingers to lightly trace my arms all the way down to my hands which were resting on my hip. “Lucy,” he said with a husky voice. My eyelashes started to flutter “Yes,” I managed to choke out. “Nothing, just this,” and in one quick motion he used his right hand to smack my ass. I just gawked at him. “I told you that was some ass, Lucy,” he said winking at me again.

“Oh, you are so dead!”

Alex immediately broke into a run and I started sprinting after him going full pelt. He took a sharp left and started running into the park. I followed him without hesitation. I was starting to gain on him. I was so close that I could hear him panting. He must have heard me coming because he turned around at the exact moment I lunged and tackled him straight to the ground. I looked down into his beautiful big brown eyes as he lay beneath me. I started to get up but Alex put his hands around my waist, pulled me close and then flipped me over so he was on top. Our noses brushed and I giggled at how tickly it was. We just lay there in silence for what seemed like an eternity. The only sound was us trying to catch our breaths. His eyes bore into mine and I swear he could see straight into my soul. I just looked into those chocolate pools of his that swirled around in the most beautiful of ways. Then he lightly pressed his lips against mine. It was just for a second. But it was amazing. It left me yearning for more of him. My lips tingled from his touch. I felt fireworks all over and my heart was racing at a staccato pace and it was all because of one boy. One boy that I’d only just met. One boy that I barely knew. One boy that I’d been told to stay away from. One boy that I think could possibly be my soul mate.

After that it was like nothing had even happened. Alex didn’t say anything about or kiss so neither did I. We just made our way to school like we usually did. Laughing and joking around like always. The only difference was that this time we were holding hands. It was kind of weird but amazing. There were little shocks and sparks all up my arm from his touch. We’d just been walking, our hands were brushing together, and he pulled my hand into his and entwined our fingers together. It was nice. I tried not to think too much about what it meant. I just wanted to enjoy the moment. Being here with Alex right now was all that mattered. It was amazing how my mood had changed. It’d only been about an hour since I was having my cold shower and cursing away, but that felt like a lifetime ago now. I was on a total high. The school gates were approaching and we walked in together laughing, our hands still intertwined. A few people turned their heads but no one seemed to notice which I was glad about. I didn’t want to answer any questions like “So are you two together now?” when to be perfectly honest I had no idea. I just wanted to let it be. I was smiling to myself, living in my fantasy world. However I was pulled out of it when I heard my name.

“Lucy?”

I turned around and was met with a pair of angry looking blue eyes. Brian.
