I felt so awkward just sitting there. I decided to quickly run to the bathroom. How was this one boy having such an effect on me? One boy I barely knew I might add. I locked myself in a cubicle and just sat on the toilet trying to gather my thoughts. What was happening to me? Why was I like this? And why with Alex? There were just so many questions...

After a few more minutes I composed myself and went back out to face him. Hopefully he wouldn't notice anything but I guess you just never know. I quickly spotted his chocolate brown eyes amongst the swarm of people. God he looked good. Lucy, stop it. Focus. I shook my head and made my way towards him.

"Well hello there stranger, where did you run off to?"

I knew he was just teasing but I couldn't stop the heat rising to my cheeks.

"Um, I... I was just.."

"Haha, I was only kidding, Lucy! I got you a hot chocolate and blueberry muffin, that okay?"

My stomach grumbled and we both just laughed. I couldn't help myself, it just all looked and smelled so good. I eagerly sat down and started sipping my hot chocolate. Despite almost instantly burning my tongue, I kept drinking because it just tasted so yummy! I gulped about half of it down before moving onto my muffin. Mmmmmm. It tasted so good. I didn't even think I was hungry until I started eating! I started to hear giggling and I forced myself to take a break for my breakfast feast to identify where the noise was coming from. I looked up to see Alex snickering.

"What?" I asked while spraying muffin crumbs everywhere. How graceful of me.

"Man you must have been hungry! You've almost finished all of that in under thirty seconds! You're like a closet fat kid!"

I just stared at him with a blank face. Thirty seconds? Was I really eating that fast? I must have been a lot hungrier than I thought... I looked down to see that I was covered in bits of muffin. I started giggling with Alex and before long we were in full on hysterics. I don't know what it was about him, but he somehow always managed to brighten my day. With him I knew it would always end in laughter.

We continued to chat and before I knew it, it was time to leave. "We should really get going, I don't wanna be late on my first week of school," Alex said. I just nodded my head, secretly praying that school would be cancelled and I could just spend the day with him. But I knew that would never happen. We picked up our stuff and left the cafe.

We continued our walk to school without any more detours. It was nice just talking to him, getting to know him. We talked about where he was from, his old school etc.. He told me about this on-off girlfriend he had and my heart fell just a little. Why was I being so jealous? Sure he was gorgeous but I'd only just met the guy...

When we finally made it to school I couldn't wait to tell Sophie about my morning. I practically ran to go and find her, but not for Alex gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks for this morning, it was fun. We should do it again some time?" I just nodded and grinned like an idiot before running off to find my friend.
