For the second time today I couldn't concentrate in class. All I could think about was those beautiful brown eyes. And that killer smile. Alex was all that was on my mind.
The bell soon went and I was pulled out of my fantasies. I made my way to the lunch hall to meet up with Sophie and the girls. I spotted them instantly and made my way over to our usual table. We sat here almost every lunch time and always had a great gossiping session.
"Luce, over here! I saved you a seat!" squeaked Sophie.
I sat on the chair Sophie was frantically patting and pulled out my roll. I wasn't hungry so just there breaking chunks of it off and then tearing those into tiny pieces. I just sat there doing that, zoning out of everything that the girls were talking about and going off into my own little world.
I just stared into space not really thinking about anything. I let my mind wonder. My eyes started to flutter and I realised I was falling asleep. But the bell rang and I was brought out of my bubble. I got up from my chair and my made way towards my next class. I didn't bother waiting or chatting to anyone because I didn't want to risk being late for a third time today. And I also just wasn't in a very chatty mood.
The rest of the day went by in a blur and before I knew it the final bell was ringing signalling home time. I couldn't get out of class fast enough. I slung my bag over my shoulder and practically flew out the door. I raced out of the main door and started making my way towards the school gates. But before I could get too far I heard someone calling my name.
"Lucy! Lucy! Wait up!"
I didn't even get a chance to turn around before someone was grabbing my hand. And that's when I felt it. Tingles in my fingertips. Little electric shocks racing up my arm. I didn't even need to look to know who it was. Only one person could have that type of affect on me. Regardless, I spun around and was met with those deep pools of chocolate I'd been fantasising about all day which confirmed it was Alex. He was beaming down at me, obviously oblivious to the shock waves he was sending through me.
"Where you off to in such a hurry? I thought we were walking home together?" Alex questioned with what looked like a flash of hurt in his eyes.
"Oh sorry, I completely forgot! Are you ready to go now?"
"Yup," he said, really popping the "p".
I just smiled up at him as we made our way out of the school grounds. We started walking back in what was a comfortable silence. The whole time I kept wondering what it'd feel like if he was holding my hand. I smiled as I thought about it. Before mentally slapping myself, yet again, for fantasising about him like that. I had to remember that he was nothing but a player and would only ever want one thing from me- and that was to get in my pants.
I shook my head to snap out of whatever trance I was in. Wow I was just really out of it today, wasn't I? I looked up at him and he smiled back. And before I could help myself, I found I was asking, "So Alex, do you have a girlfriend?" I internally groaned for being so forward. Ugh
"Nah, girlfriends aren't really my thing. I'm more of a one date type of guy if you know what I mean," he said and then gave me a wink.
I just rolled my eyes. I couldn't believe what a player he was. And the worse part was, he didn't even try to hide it. Was it weird that I actually found that kind of hot? Stop it, Lucy.
"Hey what was that for?!" Alex said looking genuinely surprised.
"The what?"
"The weird eye roll thingy! You know what they say, don't hate the player, hate the game!"
I couldn't help but laugh at him. He just winked at me though. I started running before shouting back over my shoulder, "Last one homes a rotten egg!"
"Oh it's game on!"
I broke out into a full speed run and prayed that he wouldn't catch me. I glanced behind me to see that he was already catching up. He was running full pelt with a big, goofy grin plastered all over his face. It only made me laugh harder. I was so immature sometimes.
I looked back again and saw that he was right behind me. And then before I could react, he tackled me straight into the ground. We both just burst out into hysterics.
"Ew, I'm gonna get grass stains all over my jeans!" I moaned out loud. It only fuelled our laughter.
We eventually managed to get our giggles under control and then just lay there. Looking into each others eyes. Alex was still sprawled out on top of me, and I couldn't help but think to myself how right it felt.
But before I did anything stupid, I wiggled out from underneath him and stated that we should really get going. I didn't want to get into any trouble. Alex nodded and stood up before holding out a hand for me. I couldn't stop the smile forming on my lips and placed my hand in his while he pulled me up. I could feel sparks flying from being so close to him. We grabbed our bags and continued our walk.
Once we made it back onto the lane, Alex turned straight into Joan's house. I waved before carrying on walking up to my house. I saw Mrs Piers looking out the window and gave her a friendly smile. However, all she did in return was shake her head at me before walking off into her house. That was weird. But I wouldn't let her bring me down from my high. I was on cloud nine right now!
