max didn't himself probably be in a relationship with someone else—ever. he didn't really have a social life outside of gaming and basketball, he always kept to himself and tried to keep his parents happy with his grades. every time he tried to talk to someone, they just ignored him after a few days.
he always struggled to flirt, his flirting falling short as he never successfully got it through. they always laugh it off or look at him weirdly and it bothered him. he knew he bombed and went horrible but they didn't know how to tell him.

he always took her word. he eventually gave up on his dating life until a certain man he would never thought of would swoop him up.
