The group followed Jambu and Pineapple, with Starchaser and Windrider riding on top of Deathbringer, to the edge of the rainforest. In a small clearing, much like the one where Starchaser and Windrider had hatched in, was an egg.

"Whose egg is this?" Glory demanded.

"No idea, Your Majesty," Pineapple said, shrugging.

Just then the egg wobbled and cracked, revealing a round face with orange eyes. The dragonet wrestled with the eggshell, pushing it off of her body. She then became aware of the many pairs of eyes watching her. With a startled squeak, she fell backwards onto the ground.

The dragonet was clearly a hybrid. Her wings were very large, like a SkyWing's or a NightWing's, and her wingspan was a lot wider than most RainWing dragonets. The SandWing-like pale yellow scales flecked with gold and orange on her underbelly didn't seem to change color. She also had blue, purple, and pale red scales that blended together seamlessly while outlining her wings. The dragonet's tail was curled in like a typical RainWing's, and the shape of her body was streamlined, like many of the tribes. Other than that, the dragonet also had blue, green, and indigo scales in an elegant swirling pattern under her wings, like a SeaWing's.

Glory blinked. The dragonet's eyes were purple fading into blue. "Deathbringer, what color were her eyes when she came out?"

"Orange, I think," he replied. "Why?"

"Now her eyes are purple fading into bl-" Glory broke off, staring.

The dragonet's eyes were now purple fading into pink. "Mommy, she eye deefent cloor?" Starchaser asked.

"Yes, I think so," Glory replied, stunned.

"What?" Deathbringer asked, dumbfounded.

"Let's take her to Grandeur, little sis," Jambu bounced around, pink as ever.

"Come on, little one," Glory leaned forward, reaching out a talon for the dragonet. She squeaked in alarm, backing away as the scales on her body and her eyes turned a matching shade of pale green.

"I'll go find Grandeur," Pineapple said.

"No need, I'm already here," Grandeur's scales melted out of camouflage.

Jambu screamed like a howler monkey and Pineapple's wings flared in alarm. Windrider and Starchaser's scales turned lily green. Grandeur elegantly rolled her eyes and walked towards the dragonet.

"Did you follow us, Grandeur?" Deathbringer asked.

She nodded as she inspected the tiny dragonet. "She has color changing eyes, and I think she is probably a hybrid of RainWing and NightWing, SandWing, SkyWing, or SeaWing."

Jambu whispered in Pineapple's ear, turning Pineapple's scales pink mixed with pale blue.

"Jambu, what did you say to him?" Glory raised her eyebrows at her older brother.

"Can we adopt her? PLEASEEE?" Jambu's eyes went so large, Glory thought they were going to pop out of his head.

"Fine," Glory shrugged.

"YAYYYYYYYY!" Jambu's scales somehow got even pinker than usual and starbursts of blinding yellow exploded all over his body.

"Jambu, Pineapple, you two must keep trying to figure out what kind of hybrid she is," Grandeur stated sternly.

"Of course," Pineapple replied with a respectful bow.

"Come on!" Jambu practically bounded back to the village with the small dragonet clutching his back in alarm.
