The Story of Us (Glorybringer's Dragonets)

JMA RainWing-IceWing Tensions

A/N: Cometsenser and Vortex are not in love, and will not end up as a couple, even though it may seem like they're in a romantic relationship at certain moments. They are just best friends.

A week after Glory had told them about going to JMA, Glory, Deathbringer, Jambu, Pineapple, Daydreamer, Starchaser, Windrider, Nighttracer, Cometsenser, Cleverclaws, and a bunch of other students from the rainforest stood at the entrance of JMA. That morning, Daydreamer had practiced her SkyWing appearance imitation, and Deathbringer had pounced on her, thinking she was an actual SkyWing. If she was able to fool Deathbringer, she would most likely be able to fool the rest of the students.

"You better visit us, Mom!" Nighttracer said from under Glory's wing.

"Stay safe," Deathbringer warned them.

"I'll miss you, dads," Daydreamer joined Jambu and Pineapple in a group hug.

"Don't change yourself for the sake of others. Remember that, Dream," Pineapple reminded her.

"Of course, I'll remember," Daydreamer replied, pulling away from them and following her friends into the entrance hall of JMA.

Daydreamer looked around the entrance hall in wonder, she'd never been in a cave before as dragonets in the rainforest weren't allowed in the two tunnels that led to the NightWings' abandoned volcanic island and the Kingdom of Sand. Unfortunately, because she wasn't paying attention to where she was walking, Daydreamer crashed into ice cold scales.

"Hey, watch where you're going, SkyWing!" a female IceWing snapped.

Daydreamer was glad she had chosen crimson red for her scales, or else they'd have recognized that she was a RainWing.

"Well, why don't you stop blocking the whole entrance, Frosty?" Daydreamer retorted.

"FROSTY!? That's the most ridiculous name I have ever heard! I am Icicle of the IceWings, niece of Queen Glacier," Icicle glared daggers at Daydreamer.

"Break it up, folks, it's only the first day," Clay appeared in between them.

"Dad!" cried an unfamiliar voice.

"Hey, Copper, I'll see you later, alright?" the MudWing asked apologetically.

The small dragonet was clearly a SkyWing-MudWing hybrid. He nodded as he trotted away.

"Icicle, Daydreamer, calm down," Clay said.

"Daydreamer? That's not a typical SkyWing name is it?" the male IceWing she crashed into asked.

"Snowdrift, that's because she's-" Clay broke off as Daydreamer shook her head at him lightly, silently begging him not to blow her cover, "-not a typical SkyWing, and her parents wanted something unique." He finished, almost flawlessly.

"Thank you," she mouthed at Clay.

"I'll let you guys off the hook this time, but try not to get into another fight," Clay warned.

"So, SkyWing," Snowdrift began. "Why are you hanging out with these lazy RainWings and untrustworthy NightWings?"

"I'll have you know, that we aren't as lazy as you think," Windrider piped up, glaring at the IceWing.

"Come hang out with me instead," Snowdrift continued speaking to only Daydreamer, ignoring what Windrider had just said.

"Don't you arrogant IceWings have something better to do? I don't want to hang out with you, so stop bothering me," Daydreamer replied, then walked off with her rainforest friends.

"Nice comeback, Dream!" Starchaser grinned.

"Thanks," she replied.

"Vortex!" Cometsenser flew right into a male SkyWing dragonet and they rolled on the ground for a bit before they were out of momentum and flopped down to the ground, laughing.

"Hey, Comet, I missed you!" he replied, brushing her wing with his.

"Who's this?" Cleverclaws asked, stepping forward. "And how do you know my sister?"

"Oh! You must be Cleverclaws, Comet has told me a lot about you," Vortex replied. "My name is Vortex, and your sister and I met when I crash-landed near the edge of the rainforest."

"Nice to meet you, Vortex," Daydreamer smiled.

"So, Vortex, what's your opinion on RainWings?" Rain (a minor character, and also a RainWing) asked nervously.

"I don't think they're lazy, and I'm not just saying that because there are RainWings around. I think they are just as hardworking as any other tribe. And don't tell the other SkyWings this, but personally, I think that RainWings are the coolest tribe." Vortex replied.

"Good to know," Mist piped up.

"Since you won't judge me, I'll let you in on a little secret, but I should show you. So let's find Fatespeaker for our sleeping caves." Daydreamer suggested.

"Did someone say my name!?" Fatespeaker asked, appearing out of nowhere. The rainforest students and Vortex shrieked in alarm, and Daydreamer just managed to keep her scales red.

"Hello," they chorused.

"Hello," Fatespeaker replied. "Now, I'll just give you your scrolls so that you can find your sleeping caves. There is a map on the scroll with your sleeping cave marked in your favorite color and the other public areas, like classrooms and the entrance hall."

"Thank you," they said and then they split up to find their sleeping caves.

Vortex followed Daydreamer to her sleeping cave and asked, "So what's the secret?"

After looking around the hallway that stretched out on either side of her sleeping cave to make sure there wasn't anyone who would see or hear, she changed her scales to a light purple and said, "I'm not a pure SkyWing."

"WHAT!?" he cried.

"Shhh, keep it down!"

"Sorry."

"So anyway, I'm half SkyWing and half RainWing," she said.

"Who are your parents?"

"Jambu and Pineapple."

"But aren't they both RainWings?"

"Yes, but my egg was left in the rainforest before I hatched, so I don't know who my parents were or why they left me."

"So, they adopted you?" Vortex asked.

Daydreamer nodded, "Yes, we found out a couple months ago."

"That's really cool," he stated.

Daydreamer grinned, "Thanks. You can call me Dream for short. All my friends do."

"So, Dream, would you like to meet my siblings?" Vortex asked.

"That would be really fun, let's find the others and go look for your siblings together!"
