Daydreamer, Copper, Cometsenser, Nighttracer, and Rain headed to history. Before they could get in though, they saw Winter holding Moonwatcher up with his wings.

"What's going on!?" Rain cried.

"No one can go in there!" Moon leapt forward, blocking the entrance to the history cave.

"Hey, calm down," Qibli knelt down to her eye level.

"Tracie, don't go in there!" Moon warned.

"I'm just getting everyone out, don't worry, Moon," Nighttracer replied, walking into the cave.

"I'll go with her," Daydreamer offered.

"No, come back!" But it was too late. Daydreamer's tail had already disappeared into the cave.

"Moon, don't worry, let's get you to the infirmary. Tamarin will bring us notes for everything we miss this class." Kinkajou soothed Moon gently.

"Tamarin's in there!? You don't understand! She needs to get out. Now!" she screamed again.

"Hey, Carnelian! Don't go in there," Qibli called.

"Why not?" asked the grumpy SkyWing.

"The air smells smoky, let it air out."

"Smells fine to me," and then Carnelian walked into the classroom.

A loud bang erupted from the classroom. Thankfully, most of it was blocked by Copper's fireproof scales. He bravely went inside to help any potential survivors. A few seconds later, Clay and Peril came barreling down the hallway. They rushed into the burning cave without a second thought of themselves.

In the end, five students were pulled out of the fire. Daydreamer and Nighttracer luckily had minor burns, and would hopefully recover soon. Tamarin was burned pretty badly, but she would hopefully survive them. Carnelian and Bigtail were dead.

"Is there anyone left in the cave?" Snowdrift asked.

When Clay shook his head, Snowdrift inhaled deeply and exhaled strong jets of water, slowly but surely extinguishing the fire.

"Snowdrift and Copper, please take Daydreamer and Nighttracer to the infirmary. Pike, I'll help you take Tamarin to the underground lake." Clay instructed, rather calmly, considering what had just happened.

With one of her wings over Snowdrift's back, he supported Daydreamer to the infirmary. Copper, who was smaller, supported Nighttracer to the infirmary. During the explosion, Daydreamer had been so shocked, she had lost control over her scales.

"So, you're a RainWing-SkyWing hybrid?" Snowdrift asked.

"Yes," she replied, wincing as he put the medicine on her burns.

"Would water be better for now?" he offered, rather thoughtfully, in her opinion.

She nodded, and he shot small jets of water onto her burns. "Thank you," she said, taking him by surprise. No one had ever thanked him before. The MudWings considered him an outcast because he looked more like an IceWing. As for the IceWings, they merely let him join them because his mother was in the First Circle on the gift of order.

"You don't act like a typical IceWing, or did I just get the wrong impressions on your tribe? The way dragons get the 'lazy fruit-eater' vibes from RainWings?" Daydreamer asked.

"I'm half MudWing, so they don't accept me, and the IceWings only let me 'be close' to them because my mother is in the First Circle, higher than any of them."
