AIAH

Finally, today is the start of our semestral break. I can now take a breather for a while and enjoy my time with my family. A much-needed vacation I deserved.

If you would ask me what happened to me in the last couple of months, I'd say, a lot has happened to me.

For instance, some of the people that I met became my close friends now. I also won as the representative for our department.

In terms of academics, I'm part of the president's listers, which I'm very proud of. It's been a tough adjustment for me entering this college life.

Meeting new people, adjusting to the workloads as well as familiarizing the environment of the university itself.

My family and I went on a beach trip to celebrate my brother's engagement to his long-time girlfriend. Also, to celebrate my achievements in general.

I am currently having my morning jog along the beach when I received a call from my manager.

"Aiah, I got a good news for you. I'll bet, you wouldn't believe what I'm going to say," He said as he screamed in the background, making my forehead crease with anticipation.

"Tell me what is it? You know me, Ry. I hate beating around the bush." I said as I stopped my motion to steady my breathing.

"I got a call from my friend, the head of the Star Hunt Academy, MQ Mallari. She told me to tell you that they will include you as part of the SHA trainees for the group that they are making." He excitedly speaks.

To be honest, I'm lost for words. As time goes by, I've learned to slowly accept that being in the limelight is not for me.

That's why, it's the main reason why I took a photography course. To be as closed as I can be in the art of performing while doing wonders behind the camera.

It took me quite some time to process everything that he said. Weighed what my mind was telling me and that was to be practical, a safe choice, versus what my heart truly desired, a risky and with a high probability of breaking my heart again.

The worthiness of the amount of progress I made versus the what ifs and what could have happened if things back then went by differently.

"Hello, Aiah? Are you still there?" He asked hesitantly. Unsure as to why I became silent.

"Uhhmm Ry? Can you give me some time to think this through? I would also discuss this with my parents as soon as when I got home." My voice was low but was enough for him to hear.

"Are you serious, Aiah? This is your dream for so long. What made you think twice?" He said, feeling bewildered.

"Funny to think that, if you would said that 5 months ago, no doubt, I would say yes with no hesitation. But Ry, during those months, things have changed for me. There's a lot at stake right now for me to consider." I calmly said as I looked into the horizon of the sea.

He sighed. I know he understands me. He always does and always will.

"I respect your decision, Aiah. But please don't close your heart to this. Call me if you have already decided."

A smile formed on my lips. I don't know what to do with my life without Ry. We started this dream together.

"I surely will, Ry. I promise to call you as soon as I can. I love you, you know it, right? I'm forever grateful for the things you do for me. You always go beyond when it comes to me. I owe you a lot. So much that I question myself if I deserved you." My eyes started to water. I suddenly feel emotional.

"Oh, Aiah. You don't know how much you mean to me. You're like my daughter. Of course, I'll do everything for you. You are worth it. You deserved the best that life could offer, remember that. I love you, okay?" His words of affirmation have brought comfort within me.

"Aiah, why are you so afraid? Get yourself together and show them the queen that you are." I muttered to myself as I found my way back home.
