Y/n's Pov
I was jolted awake by the shrill ringing of my phone. Groggily, I reached over to the nightstand, squinting at the bright screen. It was Angel Dust.
"What is it, Angel?" I mumbled, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep.
"Y/n! Get to the hotel now! We're boarding up the place. There's an Extermination coming our way, and we need all hands on deck!" Angel's voice was urgent, with a hint of his usual bravado.
"What? Extermination day is today?" I asked, already swinging my legs out of bed.
"No, it's the day after next, but we need to prepare now. The hotel is the first target. We're doing what we can, but we need your help. Get here quick!" he replied, hanging up before I could ask more questions.
I quickly dressed and made my way to the hotel, my mind racing with worry and anticipation. When I arrived, the scene was chaotic but organized. Wooden boards and metal sheets were being hammered into place, and everyone was working with a sense of urgency.
Angel Dust spotted me and waved me over. "About time you got here, princess!" he said with a smirk, his Italian accent coming through thickly in his stress.
I rolled my eyes but smiled. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Angel. What's the situation?"
"The Exterminators are coming, and we're the first on their list," Cherry Bomb said, tossing me a hammer. "We're reinforcing the place to keep them out."
I nodded and joined the effort, hammering boards into place and helping wherever I was needed. Despite the circumstances, there was a sense of camaraderie among us.
Niffty, who was darting around with her usual energy, paused to grin at me. "I'm such a huge fan of your singing, Y/n! It's so awesome to have you here helping us out!"
I couldn't help but smile back. "Thanks, Niffty. I'm glad to be here, even if the circumstances aren't ideal."
Husk was grumbling as he secured a particularly stubborn board. "Damn Exterminators always causing trouble. Just when I thought I could get a break."
"Cheer up, Husk," I said, patting him on the back. "At least we're all in this together."
Sir Pentious was barking orders, his serpentine body coiling and uncoiling with agitation. "We must ensure every entrance is secured! No weak points!"
As we worked, the urgency of the task at hand started to turn into a sense of unity. Despite our differences and the chaos surrounding us, we were bonding through the shared effort.
Once the hotel was sufficiently fortified, we gathered in the lobby, catching our breath and assessing our handiwork.
Angel Dust plopped down on a couch, lighting a cigarette. "Well, that was a workout. But I gotta say, we make a pretty good team."
Cherry Bomb nodded, wiping sweat from her brow. "Yeah, we did good. Thanks for coming, Y/n. We couldn't have done it without you."
I smiled, feeling a warm sense of belonging. "We're in this together. Always."
Niffty bounced over, her eyes shining with excitement. "We should celebrate after this! Maybe a little party, just us?"
Husk grumbled but didn't object, and Sir Pentious even managed a reluctant smile.
As we settled in, waiting for whatever would come next, I realized that this impromptu crisis had brought us closer. We were more than just allies in a fight; we were friends, bonded by the need to protect our home and each other.
