Velvette's Pov
I had been waiting eagerly for this day. With everything happening in Y/n's life, from her ambitious circus dream to her dramatic poker game with Alastor, it felt like a lifetime since we'd had a proper catch-up. Today was about reconnecting with my best friend, and nothing was going to ruin it.
The morning sun streamed through my window, casting a warm glow over my room as I picked up my phone. I dialed Y/n's number, a smile playing on my lips. It had been too long since we had a leisurely chat, and I was excited to hear her voice and catch up on everything.
"Hey, Y/n," I greeted when she picked up. "How's it going?"
"Velvette! I've been meaning to catch up. What's up?" Her voice was bright and lively, exactly what I needed.
"I was thinking, how about we meet up today? I'd love to hear everything you've been up to. Maybe grab a coffee?" I suggested, trying to sound casual but knowing I was bubbling with anticipation.
There was a brief pause, and then her enthusiasm came through. "That sounds perfect! Where do you want to meet?"
I hesitated for a moment, trying to choose the perfect spot. "There's a cute café right across the street from the Vee's headquarters. It's a bit of a walk for you, but it's cozy and has the best pastries in town."
"I'm in!" Y/n responded with enthusiasm. "I'll see you there."
After hanging up, I quickly got ready. I chose a chic, casual outfit that was comfortable but stylish. As I stood in front of the mirror, I felt a wave of excitement. Spending time with Y/n was always a delight, and today was going to be no different.
When I arrived at the café, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods greeted me. It was a charming place, with its rustic wooden tables and soft lighting creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I scanned the room and spotted Y/n already seated at a corner table, her presence a beacon of familiarity and joy.
"Hey, Y/n!" I called out as I made my way over. "It's so good to see you."
"It really is!" Y/n's face lit up as she greeted me. "I've missed this."
We both settled into our seats, and I could see Y/n's eagerness to share her recent experiences. I leaned in, ready to dive into whatever stories she had to tell.
"So, what's been going on?" I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me. "Fill me in on all the details."
Y/n's face brightened as she began recounting the poker game with Alastor. Her excitement was palpable as she detailed the high-stakes drama and her eventual victory.
"I can't believe you actually won," I said, my voice filled with awe. "That's amazing!"
"It was intense," Y/n admitted, her eyes sparkling with the memory. "But I held my own. Now Alastor is going to help me make my circus dream come true."
My heart swelled with pride for her. Even though my relationship with Alastor was complicated and Vox had strong opinions about him, I couldn't deny how thrilled I was for Y/n. "That's fantastic! I'm so happy for you. You've been working so hard for this."
Y/n's smile widened, and she expressed her gratitude. "Thank you. Your support means everything to me."
After we had our heart-to-heart, I suggested we do something fun. "How about we check out a boutique I frequent? I think you deserve a treat."
