Chapter 5
Valentino POV

The hounds howled at night. I looked through the binoculars' glass, just down the road that goes into the community. Not a single house has a light beaming in it.
Everyone looked to be in for the night, but I noticed a few dogs wandering around. I throw the binoculars on the back seat.

I started the car engine, but left the headlights off. The wheels crept down the road and entered Martinez's yard. The goal was to go in, retrieve the money and the girl, and then leave. I grab my pistol out of the glove compartment.

I gently climbed out of the car, aiming my pistol about the thick blanket of darkness.

I rushed up to the porch and knocked on the door, masquerading as a regular guest.

"Who's that?" He shouted.

"Valentino."

"Valentino?" He questioned. I saw the light turn on. I could see his shadow and that he was holding a AR-15 gun as he gently approached the door.

I leaned against the side of the door, waiting for him to open it.

"Tax collector."

"I know. What are you doing here?"

I could hear the floorboard creaking just near the entrance. I grinned as I heard the door open with a loud clunk.

I waited until he pushed his gun out before wresting it from his grasp and throwing it outside. I pointed my own pistol at him. His hand is lifted in the air.

"What do you want? You said I had till the end of the weekend."

"Well, plans changed." I take a black cloth and ball it up in my hand. I focused the silencer on his torso and opted to shoot him in the foot, and he bawled for a single second as I put the cloth into his mouth. He collapsed to the ground, but I yanked him up and pushed him into the rear room.

"I want everything you own in the safe."

I place the gun in his back, "And that bitch, I'll need her as well."

He removes the handkerchief from his lips. "You cannot have her..." He moaned in pain as I smacked the pistol against his left ear.

"Did I tell you to take out the cloth? Put it back in."

He filled his lips with the handkerchief and nodded. We made it up the steps. It was dark, but I could see the outline of the structure. As I ascended the stairs, the room door appeared to be integrated with the living room and kitchen.

"Open the door now."

He pushed the door open. "Turn on the lights."

I could hear his fingertips make contact with the wall while searching for the light switch.

"I am going to take the girl, and there is nothing you can do about it. Do you know why? Because you're going to give me what I want, and I'm gonna kill you?"

The light brought the room to life, and I startled as I noticed a battered Lucia at the corner of the bed. "What have you done to her?" I inquired as I immediately turned my focus to the business at hand. I couldn't concentrate on her just yet. "Take the cloth out."

"I put her in her place."

I laughed, and he followed suit with a hesitant laugh.

"You enjoy hitting women, huh?" I rammed the silencer into his head, sending him to his knees on his wound, and he let out another scream.

I pointed the gun at Lucia, fear grew her eyes large and she began to cry. I placed my free fingers on my lips. "Come here." I talked softly to her. She watches the gun as she gently moves off the bed.

"Go to the safe." I motioned towards the safe, which was in the corner of the room. I directed my wrath toward Martin. "It's quite dumb to have a safe with money out on the open line." I whacked him with the pistol again. "Give me the code."

"I don't know the code; it's not my safe."

I looked across at the terrified, quivering girl. I leveled the gun at her again, and she curled away. "Who's safe is it?"

She glanced at Martin for a brief while before her gaze dropped to the floor. "I'm not gonna hurt you, Lucia. Tell me who the safe belongs to."

She shakes her head. "Lucia, look at me."

With sparkling wet eyes, the girl turned to face me. It's the first time I've had the opportunity to stare into her stunning brown eyes. For the first time, I was carried away. I swallowed, pulling out of her hypnotic gaze. "I came for you. I am taking you away."

"Lucia, she is lying." Her gaze darted towards Martin. I smacked him again, and his head was buried in the earth. "Is his safe?"

She silently nodded.

"I am going to murder you." He roared after her. I grabbed him up and threw him into bed.

"You won't ever get to see her, and tonight will be the last time you see her."

"Give me the code."

"Why?"

"You are just going to murder me."

"Exactly. But before you depart, consider doing something kind. Give me the code, or I'll wipe out your entire family."

His eyes widen with horror.

"Do you think I don't know about your Mama and your hidden one-year-old hija?"

"Take them out of this." He gritted.

"Give me the code, and I will forget I mentioned them." I said, giving him a few more hits with the rifle.

"Fine... I will give you the code." He cried. "Its 45..." I turned towards Lucia. "Put that in."

"45." I tell the girl. Ahe typed the first two digits in.

"Next?" I asked.

"90." He panted.

She punched it in, and the safe popped open. "Take whatever is in there."

I grinned as I watched her take out a handful of cash, securely wrapped in elastic bands. I remove the bag off my shoulder and toss it to her. "Fill it up."

I focused my attention back on Martin. He had a murderous stare in his blood-red eyes.

"You will not get away with this." His fingers gently touched the new cut above his brow.

"I believe I can get away with everything. I've been doing it for a while not to get away."

"I'm done," Lucia said.

"Good, girl. "Come here. I called the girl over. She approached gently. I seized the sack of cash from her grasp.

"I want you to do something very significant for me." I muttered as my fingertips softly stroked the dark mark on her cheek. She flinched and pulled away from my contact.

"I understand it hurts. But here's your chance to harm him back?"

"H-how?" She inquired, curiously. I could tell in her eyes that she would hurt him. She was bored of it all.

"I want you to kill him."
