It was around ten o'clock at the lakehouse. Talia sat on the bed as Alex packed his bag, The two were silent, Talia feared if she spoke her voice would shake while Alex feared he would hurt the blonde's feelings more.
"So this is it?" Talia mutters her voice shaky like she thought it'd be as she pulls her knees to her chest and wraps her arms around herself.
Alex stops packing and looks up at the gorgeous blonde he has come to be attached to. "No goodbye is forever," Alex replies as he sits next to her.
"Don't lie to me," Talia tells him her eyes burning into his. Too many times she had been told goodbye, and too many times it had been the last word.
"I really wish I didn't have to go," He murmurs to her, tucking a piece of her golden hair behind her ear.
"It's fine, really, I mean, a Higgins and a Feder, they don't go together right?" Talia mutters, she hated herself more than she hated Alex for leaving. She had gotten attached, and now she would be the one to pay the price.
"Maybe the idea isn't too crazy," Alex shrugs, Talia unwraps her arms from herself and instead wraps them around the brunette, Alex pulls her onto his lap and holds her in a tight, protective embrace.
A quiet tear rolls down Talia's face that she quickly wipes away, she had no reason to cry, she had barely met the man two days ago.
Small footsteps and a child's cry pull the two away from each other as Becky Feder comes into the room tears rolling down her rosy cheeks.
"Beck?" Alex questions worried for his youngest sibling.
"What's wrong, lovebug?" Talia asks opening her arms. The small child runs to her and wraps her little arms around Talia's waist Alex rubs her back not knowing what else to do.
"There's no Tooth Fairy, it was always Mommy," she cries, the two adults glance at each other.
"No, there is a Tooth Fairy," Alex assures the small girl as Talia pulls her onto her lap, wiping her tears.
"But Mommy said she was gonna put the dollar under the pillow, not the Tooth Fairy," Becky sniffles.
"That's because the Tooth Fairy told her to," Talia answers "Sometimes the Tooth Fairy is really busy and can't make it to every kid so she gives the parents the dollar and tells them to put it under the pillow for her,"
Becky looks up at the blonde "Really?" She mumbles.
Talia nods "Yeah, really," she smiles softly "Go put your tooth under your pillow, have fun,"
Becky wipes her tears and nods before hopping off the blonde's lap and running out of the room. Alex looks at the woman amazed she was able to calm Becky down so easily. "You're really good with kids," Alex compliments.
Talia shrugs "I was four when my mom told me the Tooth Fairy wasn't real, then five when she told me Santa was just a myth for rich people to get richer." Talia explains getting to her feet "Kids deserve to have childhoods and to believe in things," the blonde says as she makes her way to the bathroom, she wants a nice hot shower to clear her head.
Alex stayed glued to the spot on the bed as he processed what Talia had told him. He wondered what kind of mother would tell such a young child that purposely.
His mind drifts back to Milan and Fashion Week. He and his mother had been planning for the event for months, and now he debated if he truly wanted to go.
If he went he could have the chance of meeting some of his mother's bosses and potential clients for more modeling which would be a big help for him. But then he would have to leave the lakehouse, more importantly, he would have to leave Talia. He wasn't so sure he was okay with waking up in Italy without a certain blonde snuggled up to him.
