Syco Records and Modest! Management hit a homerun with British-Irish boyband One Direction. The five boys became superstars, taking over the world by storm seemingly overnight. And while the group is still going strong, gearing up to go on their second tour for their newest musical offering "Take Me Home", many wondered if it was possible for someone else to climb to fame as quickly and effortlessly as this band did.
But as of yesterday, I think it's safe to say no one needs to worry.
Morgan Thomas, local of San Diego, California, came to the media's attention in a rather unexpected way last month: she was seen at a Nikes' store with Niall Horan. From then, social media went into a frenzy trying to figure out what was going on. The group was silent until their interview on the Late Late Show, wherein they disclosed that Thomas' was member Liam Payne's close friend from childhood. Dating rumors between her and Horan were quickly shut down as well.
However, one rumor everyone ignored was that of romance between her and none other than Harry Styles. From a couple subtle glances in interviews, to rumored songwriting sessions, people everywhere are already in love with their possible love. And while it seemed like we would never get closure on the subject, Thomas' debut single seemingly confirms the rumors
From the song's melancholy intro "run me in circles, just like you always do. Mess with me on purpose so I'll go to you." To the more eyebrow raising line "Said that it was just never gonna happen, then almost kissed me in the dark" on whole the song speaks on a common theme: do friends really look at friends that way?
Well, the directioners are in agreement on this one: not at all.
But as dating rumors are seemingly becoming more and more plausible between Thomas and fellow newcomer Calum Hood...what exactly can we expect?
In this reporter's opinion, only more good music.
