Note: i am in heat

The night of Christmas Eve Dabi had to leave to be with Shoto in the morning, but Hawks stayed. We had a sleepover in the fort and when we both woke up in the morning, we had pancakes and eventually went out to go look at Christmas lights before coming back for more hot coco and movies. After that, however, everything returned to normal. All three of us fell back into our usual routines: work, hang out, go home, and do it all again. Eventually the snow began to lessen and melt into the muddy earth. It's my least favorite part of winter.

I pull the bar doors open and scan the crowd. Surprisingly not many people here for a Friday night. Dabi is laughing with a patron as he shakes and stirs drinks with the skills of an expert. I can't help the smile that graces my face when I see him. He's just so beautiful. I side into the bar chair that I often frequent and it's as if some magnetic pull has his eyes immediately finding mine. I watch his arms flex as he moves, pouring shots, chopping garnishes. I could die happy wrapped in those arms.

Thats another thing, after Christmas neither of us spoke of our almost kiss. Part of me is terrified that it was an 'in the moment' thing but the way he looks at me has my heart screaming it's not and that what we share is something more. The most daring thing we share now is glances across the dinner table or a snuggle during our weekly movie, but nothing has progressed further much to my chagrin.

Dabi saunters over to me, towel over his shoulder and daring smirk on his face, "What can I get for you sweet thing?"

"Suprise me?" I shrug at him sweetly and he thinks for a moment before nodding and moving to his station to make me a random drink. He only adds two things to the glass before carefully adding a delicate lemon garnish. He walks back over and sets it down in front of me. I eye it suspiciously before picking the glass up and taking a sip. It's an Arnald Palmer and I laugh.

"Good?"

"Perfect," I say breathlessly. Something about Dabi always manages to take my breath away.

"Almost forgot," he says, licking his lips slightly before speaking again, "open."

I drop my bottom jaw immediately opening my mouth for him. He shakes his head lightly; eyes dark and wanting; before placing a ruby red cherry on my tongue. I hum in delight before closing my mouth around the cherry. Dabi pulls the stem off from in between my lips and tosses it, eyes never leaving mine.

"Thank you," I say sweetly, and he hums gently. We don't say anything as he leans on the bar taking me in. Things have also been like this. Tense and teasing. A back and forth that both of us are too chicken shit to do anything about.

"God you two are suffocating. Just fuck already," Hawks says as he crash-lands in the chair next to me.

Again, Hawks arrives to kill the moment. I look away, face ablaze at the suggestion. I mean it's not like I haven't thought about it, what it would be like to be with Dabi intimately. The thoughts that have been swirling around my brain resurface so I take a sip of my drink to steady my nerves and calm the raging heat starting to burn within me.

"You're insufferable," Dabi says as he automatically begins making Hawks usual drink.

"I mean if you're too scared, I can totally volunteer," Hawks says pulling me closer by the bottom of my chair before resting his arm across the back. Fingers playing with the fabric resting on my hips.

"I'm not scared," Dabi says forcefully, "and I doubt you could do a better job than I could."

I look between the two of them like they have lost their minds.

"I bet you couldn't" Hawks says and just as the words 'you're on' start to slip from Dabi's lips I interject.

"You two are so fucking not betting on fucking me," I say looking wildly between them. A moment of clarity washes over them as they realize just what they were betting on before shame crosses Dabi's face. Hawks doesn't look shameful. He looks just as cocky as ever.
