I jump up as Touya knocks loudly on my apartment door. It's Saturday and he's here to pick me up for our picnic date. Before I open the door, I take one last look in the mirror. I'm wearing a black halter tank top and a matching black maxi skirt with a slit up one leg. It looks absolutely sexy and part of me hopes the halter top will hide the fact that I don't have Hawks feather on anymore. I check my teeth to make sure none of my red lip stick is on them and that my hair is fully in place.

Touya smiles and looks me up and down as I open my door. He's wearing a black button down shirt and his usual black ripped jeans. All his piercings are in and he's even wearing a few silver rings. He takes my hand in his free one, in the other he's carrying a large wicker basket, and I giggle to myself at the thought of him shopping for picnic baskets.

The walk to the park is calm, birds sing, and children are playing loudly. Touya leads me towards an embankment overlooking the small river away from the family's enjoying the morning.

"This is really nice," I say as he sets the basket under a large shady tree.

"I'm glad you think so," he opens the basket and pulls out a large white blanket and I move to help him set it out under the shade.

Touya holds out his hand as he helps me to the ground so I can sit, then he takes his seat next to me and begins unpacking the basket. Cut fruits, small sandwiches, and bubby drinks. It all takes my breath away at how much detail he put into all this. And then something catches my eye. Cute heart shaped chocolate desserts. One of my favorites in fact. I've only told one other person that I love them.

My laugh bubbles up, "did Toga plan all of this?"

"She might have helped..."

"You two are adorable. This is lovely. I'll have to thank her the next time I see her."

"She adores you. Said you're like the big sister she never had," Touya brushes my hair over my shoulder.

"I love her too. She's so precious to me," I sigh happily, "she adores you too you know?"

"I highly doubt that," he laughs.

"No, for real. She threatened me when we started dating. Said I should think twice about hurting you," I bump him with my shoulder, and he looks genuinely surprised.

Touya hands me a strawberry that has a chocolate drizzle on it. I bite into the sweet fruit and hum. It's delightful. Children laugh in the distance as they run and play on the jungle gym. It's easy to find peace in things like this. I watch Touya carefully as he opens containers and sets out food. He looks so focused.

I shift and move closer to him leaning against his side. He smiles down at me and my heart flutters. I will never get over that feeling and part of me hopes it never goes away. Conversation ebbs and flows easily with Touya. The two of us spend most of our free time together so it's not like we have a lot of catching up to do. Instead, we settle on a book series he picked up after finding it on my bed side table. He had flipped through it and read some while I was cleaning up around my apartment a few weeks ago and the next thing I knew he was asking me questions and wanting to know what happens next.

"Do you think the next book will be out soon? I really want to know who she ends up with," he laughs.

"I think so. I'll be sure to let you know when I find out."
