Taylor's heart fluttered with anticipation as she and Travis walked into Arrowhead Stadium. Today, she would be meeting Travis's teammates and their partners, often referred to as the WAGs (wives and girlfriends). It was a significant step in their relationship, and Taylor wanted everything to go smoothly.
"Are you nervous, Tay?" Travis asked, squeezing her hand reassuringly.
"A little," Taylor admitted with a smile. "But I'm excited too."
"They're going to love you," Travis assured her. "Just be yourself."
As they made their way to the private lounge where the gathering was taking place, Taylor could hear the sounds of laughter and conversation. Travis pushed open the door, revealing a room filled with smiling faces. Patrick, the Chiefs' star quarterback, was the first to greet them.
"Hey, Travis! And you must be Taylor," Patrick said warmly, extending his hand. "Welcome!"
"Hi, Patrick," Taylor replied, shaking his hand. "It's great to meet you."
"This is my wife, Brittany," Patrick continued, gesturing to the blonde woman standing beside him. Brittany smiled and hugged Taylor.
"It's so nice to finally meet you, Taylor," Brittany said. "We've heard so much about you."
"All good things, I hope," Taylor replied with a laugh.
"Absolutely," Brittany said. "Come on, let me introduce you to everyone else."
Brittany led Taylor around the room, introducing her to the other players and their partners. There was Tyrann, the team's safety, and his wife Sydni, who greeted Taylor with a warm hug. Then came Harrison Butker, the kicker, and his wife Isabelle, who complimented Taylor on her dress.
Throughout the introductions, Taylor felt a growing sense of ease. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, making her feel right at home. After a few minutes, she found herself in a lively conversation with Sydni and Isabelle, discussing everything from music to football.
"You know, we were all so excited when we heard you were dating Travis," Sydni said, sipping her drink. "He's like a brother to us, and we can tell how happy you make him."
Taylor blushed, glancing across the room at Travis, who was deep in conversation with Patrick and Tyrann. "He makes me very happy too," she said softly.
Just then, a booming voice interrupted their conversation. It was Chris, the Chiefs' defensive tackle, who had a mischievous grin on his face.
"Alright, alright, enough chit-chat," Chris announced. "I think it's time for a little initiation."
"Initiation?" Taylor asked, raising an eyebrow in amusement.
"Don't worry, it's nothing scary," Chris said with a laugh. "We just want to see if you can throw a football."
Taylor laughed, feeling a bit of her nerves returning. "I'm not sure how good I'll be at that, but I'll give it a try."
The group made their way to the indoor practice field, where Travis handed Taylor a football. "Just aim for that target over there," he said, pointing to a large net with a bullseye in the center.
Taylor took a deep breath, positioning herself as Travis had shown her. She threw the ball, and to her surprise, it sailed through the air and hit the target.
"Nice throw!" Patrick cheered, clapping his hands. "We've got a natural here."
Taylor grinned, feeling a rush of pride. "Beginner's luck, maybe," she said modestly.
As the evening wore on, Taylor continued to bond with the team and their partners. They shared stories, laughed at old jokes, and even sang along to some of Taylor's hits, much to her delight.
"Hey, Tay," Travis said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I think you've officially been adopted into the Chiefs family."
"Feels like it," Taylor said, resting her head against his shoulder. "And I couldn't be happier."
Later, as the gathering started to wind down, Taylor found herself in a conversation with Patrick and Brittany. "So, Taylor," Patrick said, "are you planning on coming to more games?"
"Definitely," Taylor replied. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
"We'll be looking forward to seeing you in the stands," Brittany said with a smile. "And if you ever need any tips on how to survive football season, just let me know."
"I might take you up on that," Taylor said, laughing.
As the night came to an end, Taylor and Travis said their goodbyes, receiving warm hugs and promises to meet up again soon. On the drive home, Taylor felt a sense of contentment wash over her.
"That went better than I could have imagined," she said, looking over at Travis.
"I knew it would," Travis replied, taking her hand. "You're amazing, Tay. They saw that too."
Taylor squeezed his hand, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. She knew that this was just the beginning of many more wonderful memories with Travis and his Chiefs family.
And as they pulled into the driveway, Taylor couldn't help but think about how lucky she was to have found someone who made her feel so at home, no matter where they were.
