Dino rushes towards Scoups' room, filled with worry. He doesn't know why, but he has this feeling that everything is about to go downhill pretty badly. Scoups looks up startled as Dino slams the door open.
"I think I fucked up real bad", Dino says panting. Scoups immediatly closes his laptop and gets up.
"What's wrong?" he asks as he walks towards Dino to comfort him.
"Mingyu was acting really strange today and..." Dino has trouble saying the words out loud, so he takes a deep breath to calm himself down.
"And I'm afraid that he's going to do something to himself", Dino blurts out and Scoups' eyes widen in shock. Without a word, he rushes to the front door, grabs his keys and walks out. Dino runs behind him and he knows Scoups is on his way to Mingyu's home.
"Did he say anything?" Scoups asks while he's still running.
"He told me to stop", Dino answers.
"Shit", Scoups curses and he starts to run even faster. Only now Dino realizes how bad this situation is and his heart skips a beat. Dino and Scoups both jump in the car and before Dino can even buckle up properly, Scoups already starts to drive.
"Should I call an ambulance already?" Dino asks scared.
"What is your head telling you?" Scoups asks, his eyes focussed on the road.
"That I can't risk calling them without being sure if anything happened", Dino answers softly.
"And what does your heart tell you?" Scoups asks and Dino blinks surprised.
"That I shouldn't waste much time", Dino says slowly after a few seconds of silence.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Scoups asks and Dino grabs his phone to make the call. He explains that it's important, that he's afraid that his friend might have done something to himself. He hears that the people on the other side of the line aren't satisfied at all, but luckily, they take the call seriously and tell Dino they're on their way. In the meantime, the car stops right in front of the apartment and Dino rushes out to run inside, with Scoups following right beside him. Something inside of him keeps screaming that this is really bad, that he's already too late. But Dino can't lose hope, he promised Wonwoo. And promises are meant to keep. When they arrive at the door, Dino bangs his fists on the wood like a maniac.
"Mingyu open up!" he yells, but no one is there. He doesn't even hear footsteps and his heart drops in his chest.
"Shit", Dino curses, ready to cry. But Scoups pushes him aside and steps back, only to run forward and kick the door with such force that it opens with a loud crack. Scoups immediately rushes inside and to Dino's horror, he sees Mingyu's body laying down on the floor.
"No, no no no", Dino whispers to himself, his hands in his hair. He can't lose Mingyu, not now. He has to take care of him, he has to keep him alive. Scoups is trying to get Mingyu awake while Dino is walking through the house. It's like he's in trance, he doesn't know where he's going to and everything he hears is a dull sound. He can faintly hear Scoups yelling Mingyu's name, the paramedics rushing in, the instructions they tell each other. Before Dino knows it, he's standing in the bathroom. He widens his eyes shocked while he looks around, it's like someone broke inside and made a mess. But he knows this was Mingyu and soon he sees the two empty jars on the ground.
"I should've known he didn't throw them away", Dino accuses himself while he picks them up and rushes to the living room, where the paramedics are busy making Mingyu ready to move.
"He took this!" Dino yells while he hands the jars to a woman with dark, short hair. She smiles thankful before she signs her team to walk out, taking Mingyu with them on the brancard.
"Thank you, this will help", she says while she walks away too. Scoups follows them and leaves Dino behind in an empty room in an empty house. This house is filled with so many memories, so many people. Mingyu, Wonwoo, Joshua. But also Scoups, Hoshi and Woozi. They all laughed, they all cried. Now there are only two survivors, if Mingyu even survives. It causes him to think, what was different in Scoups' situation? What made him want to keep on living? What was Mingyu lacking that he didn't even think he was worth it anymore? And then it hits him: Scoups had him. He was always there for him, he was right next to him to catch him if he fell. Mingyu has nobody. Seungkwan and Vernon have each other, Scoups and Dino too, but Mingyu is left all alone. All alone in this cruel world, this cruel house filled with reminders of how it could have been. He didn't want to die, he just didn't want to live like this. A buzzing sound snaps Dino back to reality and he notices that he got a message. It's Scoups telling him which hospital they're headed to and Dino remembers that this isn't over yet. He has to be there for Mingyu, sitting by his side, making sure he wakes up. But when Dino takes a step forward, he hears something breaking under his shoe. He looks down and realizes he stepped on glass, on a picture to be precise. Dino bends down and picks up the picture that has fallen out of its case. It's a picture of Mingyu and Wonwoo both hugging each other and smiling to the camera. When were they ever this happy? When was the last time they smiled like this? Dino sighs deeply before he puts the picture in his pocket and finally makes his way to the hospital. He hopes he's not too late.
