with only four seconds left on the clock, kyungbock high school called their last timeout, desperately trying to create a strategy that would make them take the championship home. song mingi, the team captain, told everyone to let him shoot as long as they were blocking the one that made his life impossible: jeong yunho.

they all agreed as they went back to the court and when the clock started again, mingi had no other choice but to shoot and hope for the best. he closed his eyes as soon as the ball slipped out of his hands, only hearing the buzzer and an excessive amount of cheering right after. they had won! mingi couldn't believe it. it's the only thing he's been looking forward to since his freshman year.

him and his teammates were celebrating when suddenly a tap on his shoulder made him turn around, seeing a forceful smile on his opponent's face.

"congratulations on the win mingi" yunho said in a lowly voice. he could hear the genuineness in yunho's words but he could also see the despair and anger in his eyes as he waved a goodbye and quickly left for the locker room.

jeong yunho was kyunggi high school's toughest center, no one could get through him, except for tonight. both schools had the biggest rivalry in high school basketball. meaning that yunho and mingi were the complete opposite of friends.

without even a chance to say thank you, mingi just returned back to his teammates and coaches to celebrate. after all, this championship gave him the golden ticket to get into Yonsei University's basketball team. the celebration lasted all night long, making him the happiest he's ever felt, or at least he thought so. he got a ride home from one of his teammates and when he finally arrived home, he opened the door to find his house with nothing but an emptiness that quickly overtook the excitement from earlier.

mingi's parents were rarely home. they had a real estate firm and even though mingi didn't like to brag, they owned land everywhere in korea and in some parts of Japan as well, hence the lack of their presence.

with that said, his family was more than well-off. they lived in a mansion that overlooked a huge garden and a pool in their backyard. and although they were rich, mingi's parents were always humble.

he took off his shoes right before entering the huge house and walked upstairs to his room leaving the trophy in one of the many cases his parents had bought specially for that reason. he tossed his gym bag on the side and threw himself onto the king size bed sighing loudly, tiredness laced with every sound he made. before he could finally fall asleep, the memory of the boy from earlier came to his mind. was yunho trying to play games with him? why would he congratulate him when they were mortal enemies? at least in basketball.

being exhausted from earlier's event, he started to slowly close his eyes, jeong yunho being the last person he thought about before he drifted off to sleep.
