18. graduation

there yunho stood, just outside of the high school's auditorium where all the families waited for the graduates to come out. he had a smile plastered on his face as he held the bouquet of flowers and goofy balloons he had bought yesterday with seonghwa. 

"yunho! over here!" mingi's parents, who yunho quickly got fond of, waved at him to come stand with them. 

"oh my god, you look so good! mingi will be so happy to see you!" they were  more excited for the couple than anyone was. 

soon, mingi could be seen in the distance, his platinum blonde hair making him stand out in the crowd.  as soon as he saw his family, he ran over to them, hugging his parents first and then hugging yunho so tight, he might've just suffocated him slightly. yunho gave gave him a small peck when his parents were busy talking to other acquaintances and mingi blushed lightly. 

"congratulations baby" yunho whispered as he gave the other the flowers and balloons. mingi couldn't help put laugh at the chicken balloon and yunho was just glad he'd gotten the reaction he wanted. "thanks yuyu, these are beautiful" mingi mumbled shyly.

"just like you princess" yunho said as a he saw a smile spread across mingi's face. his parents were quick to interrupt their moment when they ushered them to pose in front of the camera. if you didn't know mingi's dad personally you'd say he's a photographer of some sorts from the way he was yelling and telling everyone how they should pose, oh and when it was his turn to pose, you could see his scared expression when he lent someone else the camera. the other's just laughed at his beahvior making the day even more enjoyable and yunho couldn't help but think about all the moments they'd share after this day. he looked forward to all the special occasions they'd spend together. the birthdays, valentines and christmas. there's nothing more he wanted than to spend them with his love. his one and only. his mingi.

after pictures and endless congrats, they had made it to mingi's house. they'd be having a small party in the backyard along with san, jongho, wooyoung and their families. happiness radiated all around and mingi felt so grateful for his family, his friends and his amazing boyfriend. suddenly, his thoughts got interrupted by said boyfriend, who was yelling over the crowd and telling everyone to take a seat. after they were seated, mingi looked up to yunho as he exhaled slowly, he grabbed his hand for reassurance and yunho looked down with a smile before he started speaking again.  

"first of all, I want to say thank you to everyone that came today and showed up for my mingi's special day. there's nothing that makes me happier than seeing him surrounded by such beautiful and caring people. I won't lie to you all and say I'm not nervous because I am, but I still want to say this. To my mingi, you're one of the most important people in my life and i'm so proud of you. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you, for us." 

yunho then squeezed mingi's hand and pulled him up to stand next to him. they stood there, face to face, nervous eyes looking at the other's. yunho smiled and started taking out a box. 

there's no way. it's too soon. is he crazy?   

those were the thoughts running through mingi's mind. they had just graduated high school. yunho wasn't going to propose, right?

yunho seemed to notice, the confusion in mingi's eyes and quickly laughed shaking his head. 

"it's not what you think it is" he said to him and the rest of the people there with them. "at least not yet"

yunho slowly opened the box revealing a silver necklace. there was a small heart locket with mingi's and yunho's initials. the blonde's eyes sparkled with adoration as yunho put the necklace on him. 

"this is a promise. a promise that I'll love you forever and I'll be there for you always. I love you mingi" 

both boys started tearing up as the crowed cooed at their adorable behavior. mingi could only whisper a small 'thank you' before hugging yunho tightly. he looked back and into yunho's eyes. 

"I love you too"

and at that moment, they felt nothing but happiness. they were each others' destiny and no one was going to get in between them. they'd waited for so long and finally got what they wanted.
