Going back to school felt as if I was starting new again. The feeling felt similar to the one when you move from one house to another and you have to leave your old life and friends behind and begin the process all over again. You have to be the new kid around the block again. Be the one that is excluded from everyone else because everyone already knows each other, and you are the stranger.
As I changed into my outfit for the day, I looked at myself in the mirror behind my bedroom door. The girl staring back at me from the mirror looked completely different from what she had looked like on the first day of school. The first day of school felt like an old and distant memory now. Almost the shade of white and black. So many things had happened since then; so many changes had taken place.
I shook my head and kept on getting ready for school. Jungkook and I had agreed to meet up before class time to see each other. Although I had agreed to, there was a lingering odd feeling in the center of my stomach. My status in school had never been really high. If anything, I was probably somewhere along the "quiet girl" category. But Jungkook, although he constantly told me he had no friends, I couldn't help but think that he was wrong.
I mean, what girl—or even guy—would ever not want to talk to someone as godly and handsomely perfect as him. Jungkook was unavoidably alluring. He had all the charms to attract a person and to captivate their eyes as slaves due to his magnetic features; with his bold jaw to his enchanting brown eyes.
It took me a few minutes to realize that my mother was in the doorway staring at me as I focused intensely on the floor with the overflowing current of my thoughts.
"Nervous?" She asked while walking in.
I shrugged and sighed while she took a spot next to me on my bed. Her hand gently settled over mine. The tip of her fingers curled around mine.
"My only girl. I can't believe we are less than a month away from your graduation."
The way my mother said the frigid fact seemed completely blissful, and I didn't judge her. My entire life she had prepared me and supported me to get to where I was now. But to me, what once had been the ultimate, superior goal, was now a frightening and sorrowful setback.
Jungkook would be leaving with his mother across the country. The only love that I had ever experienced was leaving me for a love that he had been ripped away from. And I didn't judge him in any way. I knew this had been his plan even before I had come into the picture.
My mother's tender touch over my hair snapped me, once again, back to the present.
"Finish getting ready, y/n. I'll take you to school, so you won't be late."
She kissed the top of my head before excitedly leaving out the door. Unlike her, there was no smile on my face.
The drive to school was quite unexpected. More like the conversation that went on.
"Y/n, I've been waiting to ask you something.
I knew the surprise on my face was noticeable.
"What is it?" I asked nervously.
"What exactly is your relationship with that boy? Jungkook, is it?"
My face had gone completely stiff.
Ever since Jungkook had asked me he wanted to meet my mother, intense pressure had set over me. My mother was a strong supporter in the "Don't let your kids date until they are out of high school" kind of gang. I knew she was doing it for my own protection. After what she had been through, I knew she wanted me to experience love in the best way. She didn't want me to be hurt. And I completely understood that, but when you fall, you fall. There's no other way around it.
