I pushed my short legs to reach my English class in time. Crashing and bumping by people. That's what high school is. I can't believe I survived the three previous years.
I'm a senior. And let me tell you, it is the scariest thing in the world. I remember being in first grade and praying for senior year to come fast, but now, I'm not so sure about that. To know that in a month or two I'll be done with school makes me shiver.
My class is just three classes away. Mrs. Jenks isn't my favorite teacher in the world, to be honest. She's very strict and acts like she's the most superior person in the entire world.
In high school, you learn a lot of things, but I think the most beneficial one is to get to your class in time because...boy do the classes get full.
I stood in the doorway with my mouth ajar. Only one seat. I quickly make my way to it. Just as I am about to reach it, someone else sits down. It's a boy. He has a black hoodie and ripped jeans. His earbuds deep in his ears. I turn to look around and see everyone is looking at me. The jocks making those 'ooh' faces and the girls laughing at me.
My face began to heat up. I could feel the color of my face changing. I turn to look down at the guy again. Seriously, he wouldn't even glance at me. I was about to tap him to move when Mrs. Jenks came in. Crap.
"Come on, now. Everyone take a seat. I have very important news for you today."
She places her bag on her desk, and without looking at me she says, "I'm not beginning this class unless you find a seat Ms. Y/l/n. Please, someone give her a seat. Unless all of you all want to fail."
Everyone groaned at me. I bit my lip sheepishly. That's when a prep guy grabbed a chair for me and placed it next to his desk. I smiled at him and quickly sat down.
"Thank you." I whispered while shrugging off my backpack from my shoulders. He smiled warmly before looking back at Mrs. Jenks.
"Alright. As you can see," she pointed at the screen. "Every year, the seniors have a big project. It's their last project to complete before graduation." She turned to look at all of us while passing out some sheets to every row.
"Every year, the project is different. For example, last year we went to an island. This year we are going to a forest."
Everyone groaned disappointed at the location. Mrs. Jenks didn't mind and went back to her desk.
"We are going to a forest, and then heading to hike in the mountains. It will be cold in the mountains so please, bring nice warm clothes."
The mood shifted instantly. Now everyone was excited. Mountains. Forest. Sounded great to me. Everyone seemed excited except the guy in the black hoodie.
He looked at everyone and rolled his eyes before placing his head down.
"Quiet. Remember, this project is to bond. To expand and create your last memories as a high school student. So, therefore, I will assign you a person."
Everyone kind of frowned and looked at each other like, 'what is she saying?'. Mrs. Jenks adjusted her glasses and looked down at a folder in her hands.
"Quiet, now. I have the names right here. Don't worry. If you try to switch partners because your girlfriend or boyfriend is with another person, I will find out."
She went down the long list of people. Until finally, my name came to her mouth.
"Y/l/n Y/n you will be working with Jeon Jungkook."
With who? Who was that? Was he even in this class? The prep guy from before tapped the guy in the black hoodie on his shoulder. The boy lifted his head and turned to look at him with a poker face. The preppy one motioned for him to remove his headphone to hear him.
