There's a fine line between doubt and courage in every love, one that requires us to balance the unknown and second with the full of discovery, but how do you balance the doubts? as well as courage? if the possibility of them makes you scared.
"I love you so much that I'm afraid of losing you."
It's been a week since Jay said that to you, but those words are almost repeating in your head because you noticed a lot of changes in him after that, and while he didn't lose his sweetness towards you you felt like there was something he wasn't telling you.
After you resigned from your job and spent all of your time at home you feel like time has slowed down a bit in comparison to the fact that your body has adopted daily work which is why now that you're back, it's like you're back to the old you, where Jay will work and you will take care of the house.
Jay is in the shower because he just got home from work, and he was late again, when his phone rang unexpectedly it was placed on top of the table not far from your seat, you don't touch his phone because you still respect his privacy but something inside of you wants to look at it.
The phone stops ringing, so you assume it did not call again, but after a few seconds, the phone rings again, causing you to stare at it. You're about to grab it when Jay walks out of your room, rubbing his hair with a towel.
You can see the change in his expression on his face the moment he sees it as he gets the phone from the table and looks to it.
"Someone is calling you it seems to be important to ring twice," you told him.
He gives you a brief glance and says, "It's from work," even though you didn't ask.
Jay swipes on his phone, looking worried, which is why you ask him what happened.
"What happened? Is everything okay?" You ask but he quickly takes his keys.
"What happened, Jay?" you ask again, but he does not respond to you instead he kisses your forehead.
"But, you just arrived," you protested, attempting to stop him.
"I'll be right back," he promised before leaving.
You wait all night for him to return, but he never does. You try to call his phone number, but it says the number you dialed is not in service which is why you were nervous, so you dial the company's number instead, and someone answers after a minute.
"Good morning, ma'am," said the person on the other end of the line.
"Hi, uhm, can I speak with Jay? His phone is off, I can't call him," you say.
"All right, ma'am, just a second." You waited a few seconds before the person on the other end of the phone spoke again.
"Ma'am, Mr. Park has been out of the office since yesterday."
You frowned at that, because you didn't remember Jay telling you that he left that early yesterday, since he came home late.
You don't know why, but all the nervousness you felt before brought back. Suddenly, you remember what you saw the other day and Riki's remark that they have a pregnant patient named Aliana.
What if the Aliana she was referring to is the same Aliana you saw in the baby clothes store, and who was the person she was calling on that day? All of that is like a puzzle to you, and you want to solve it right away because you're afraid your mind will explode if you don't.
Jay did not return home for three days, despite phone calls and texts. That's why you were surprised to see him sitting on the sofa when you and Estelle returned home from school on the fourth day. Jay looks at you the moment you walk into the unit.
