"The first time you fall in love, it changes your life forever, and no matter how hard you try, that feeling will never go."

After reading Nicholas Sparks' words, I gaze at Aliana. She was my first love, and I was his too. That's why everytime she hears those quotes, she always says.

"I love you."

Aliana was genuinely ideal, and I will never stop saying how fortunate I was to have her in my life. I was a student with many bad habits, such as drinking in bars and using drugs, but everything changed when I met her. She was my fiance, her mother is my mother's best friend, and I am aware that I have been reconciled, which is why my goal is to enjoy life while I am still unmarried.

I had never seen her since my mother stated Aliana was shy to display her face due to a lack of confidence, so I imagined she was unattractive, but I ate everything when I eventually got to meet her; it was an associated party and Aliana had just returned from the States.

She's a simple person who doesn't wear makeup and has strong beliefs, which is one of the reasons I admire her.

"Hello, my name is Aliana," she said, laying her hand on my me.

I was hesitant at first since I was drawn to her beauty, but it wasn't until Coleen tapped my shoulder that I knew I should take her hand.

"Jay," I said.

We used to hang out together until I realized that, gradually, I had changed, that I left my old habits, and that I had no time for my friends since her presence was enough. So, when we eventually confessed to reach other, we agreed to marry after college. However, things didn't go as planned.

It was regular class when my block mate invited me to his late night party in a Pub someplace in QC. At first, I didn't want to come, but Aliana convinced me that I should, so that my friends wouldn't think that because I had a girlfriend, I'd forget about them.

When I got to that location at 8:00PM Jacob greeted me instantly.

"Dude! I thought you didn't come!" he said, but I just shrugged as I moved closer to them.

"Thanks to Aliana, for convincing me," I said.

"Love truly transforms people's emotions," they claim, but I just laugh.

We just spoke about minor topics and they encouraged me to hang out more since I usually ignore their invites, but I claimed I didn't have time, and they laughed and didn't take it seriously, so I got a bottle of beer and sat there listening to their rants. I was drinking when I noticed a girl sitting alone in the third row, gazing out the window at people walking by.

I suppose she was compelled to come here because she did not appear to enjoy the celebration. She gave us a quick glance, and our gazes locked, but she quickly cut off. I expected her to glance back again, but she did not. Until I wasn't aware I was gazing at her.

"She's Elrin." I look at Jacob, confused.

"Huh?" I replied, not understanding what he meant.

"The girl you were looking at is named Elrin."

I placed the glass of beer down.

"And so?" I said, since it seemed like he was giving it meaning.

He gave a shrug. "Maybe you're curious."

I shook my head, somewhat chuckling at what he said.

"I'm already taken, maybe you forgot," I responded, but he raised his brow.

"But I don't think you can live up to her standards, she's smart and a top dean lister. I don't think she will be interested in you," he stated.

Our friends laugh at his joke, and part of me is annoyed by what he says. What precisely did he mean?
