Short Chapter

Mr. Ramirez leaned back in his chair, his expression turning serious again as he steered the conversation toward the threats and vandalism. "Let's focus on what we can do to ensure you both feel safe," he said, his voice steady. "I want you to feel empowered to take control of this situation."

Emma nodded, feeling a sense of determination rise within her. "We appreciate that, Mr. Ramirez. We just want to make sure this doesn't escalate."

"Absolutely. First, I think it's important that you both document any incidents—whether it's a threat you receive or something you see that seems suspicious. Write it down, take pictures if you can, and make sure to note the time and date," he advised, his tone firm.

"Okay, that makes sense," Abigail replied, her brows furrowed in concentration as she imagined keeping a record of their experiences.

"Secondly, I want to discuss communication," Mr. Ramirez continued. "It might be a good idea to share your concerns with your close friends. Having a support network can make a huge difference. If something feels off, they can help look out for you."

Emma exchanged a knowing glance with Abigail. "We've been thinking about that. We want to make sure we have people we trust keeping an eye on things."

Mr. Ramirez smiled warmly. "Now, as for the threats—if you're comfortable sharing any specifics, I'd like to know what you've received."

Abigail took a deep breath, her hands clenched together. "They've been mostly anonymous messages—texts and social media posts. They say things like we shouldn't be together and that we're going to regret it. They're vague, but they're still really threatening."

Emma shivered at the memory of reading those messages, the words replaying in her mind like a broken record. "It's hard not to feel scared when someone is saying those things. It feels so personal."

Mr. Ramirez nodded sympathetically. "That's completely understandable. It's essential to take those feelings seriously. I recommend that if you receive anything else, screenshot it immediately and show it to me. The more evidence we have, the better we can protect you."

"Okay, we will," Abigail promised, her voice steadying as she felt a sense of control over the situation.

"Lastly, let's talk about you both," Mr. Ramirez said, leaning forward slightly. "How are you feeling about everything? It's crucial to address not just the external threats but also the emotional impact this situation may have on you."

Emma glanced at Abigail, who looked pensive. "It's definitely been overwhelming," she admitted. "I didn't expect to be in this position at all."

"I feel the same," Emma added. "We're just trying to navigate everything, but it's hard not to feel like we're under constant scrutiny. I love Abigail, and I want to be proud of our relationship, but it's difficult when we have to hide."

Mr. Ramirez's expression softened; his eyes filled with understanding. "It's important to allow yourselves to feel those emotions. You shouldn't have to hide who you are or who you love. However, in this case it is important that you two are very careful at least until graduation."

Abigail took Emma's hand, their fingers intertwining. "We will, and it helps knowing we have your support."

"Always," Mr. Ramirez replied firmly. "And if you need someone to talk to—whether it's about your relationship, the threats, or anything else—I'm here. You both have my full support."

Emma's heart swelled with gratitude, and she felt the weight of the world lifting just a little. "Thank you so much. It's nice to know we have someone in our corner."
