Another Coin Of The Story

  Jihoon blinks away at the sound of tiny feet walking inside his room, only then did he manage to let his eyes veer away from the window where he was constantly watching the figure of Soonyoung, who was just sitting there... doing nothing but sit on a bench in the backyard, he could swear at one point their gazes did meet when the other looked toward his window, Jihoon knows they have heightened sight, it will be easy for him to be spotted from afar with his window being the only one lighted up on that side of the house this late and yet Jihoon didn't shy away from the look or hide but Soonyoung didn't even react to seeing him, he stared for a few seconds as if he was not even looking at Jihoon but just blindly staring around and then he turned away and Jihoon's heart broke at such a reaction. He did not know what he expected, but surely not this? His whole body burning with the urge to run outside, to envelop the other in his arms and to just do something, anything at this point but looking at Soonyoung right now he knew the other might not appreciate his presence, so all he could do for now is just stare from his window, to be present for him even if it was from afar. Even if it was just from his window. 

  What a sad sight, both of them sitting unmoving on two sides of a wall, knowing they need each other and yet none making a move to reach out. Jihoon would have laughed if anyone told him he would be in this position one day and yet here he was. Burned with the want to help and yet lost on how to help.

   In front of the door, a tiny Chan holding tightly to his rabbit in one hand but also surprisingly into a yawning Vernon with his other one were standing watching Jihoon unmoving like he forgot to do something for them... He did not forget something, did he?

  "What are you two doing here out of bed at this time?" He ignores the fact he was as well awake this late and stands up from his window seat with difficulty, he does not want to leave and let Soonyoung out of his sight but his siblings need him as well, he has promised himself no matter what happens in life his family will always be his priority after all, even if it pains him physically to even move away. He kneels in front of the two in question slowly patting Vernon's still sleepy head, the kid was barely awake rubbing his eyes to try to stay awake.

  "Jimin was screaming in the hallway and we got scared, mom told us to get back to bed and she would take care of him with Seokmin but I could not sleep and I did not want Vernon to stay alone in our room, he gets scared when we leave him alone at night." Chan stands tall in front of his brother and Jihoon's heart swells at seeing the two together but he as well cannot help but think about Jimin and all the Kwons... Jimin must be losing it at the loss of his father especially with Yoongi being upset... Jihoon could imagine exactly how bad it must be in the other house right now.

  "You two still need to go to bed either way or tomorrow you will not be able to stay awake for your studies and you do not want your governess to be angry at you, right?" Chan pouts shoulders falling and Jihoon rolls his eyes, he was not about to get manipulated by a 4-year-old's pout, nope those days were long gone. 

  Vernon pulls slowly on his sleeve and Jihoon gives him a questioning look as he slowly points toward Jihoon's desk. "He wants you to read for us." Vernon nods slowly and Chan shrugs. "Wonwoo usually reads to him whenever he has a nightmare." Jihoon smiles sadly at the younger boy and walks them back toward his door.

  "Why don't we go back  to your room and pick a book from there instead, my books are a little... boring." He doubts the kids will want to read anything about music theory or instrument mechanics. 

  "It is okay, Wonwoo once read for us his book about architecture and Vernon enjoyed it a lot," Chan adds skipping to his room ahead of them and Jihoon chides him to be a little quiet to not wake up the rest. "But hyung, everyone is already awake." True that, Jihoon does not believe anyone has actually gone to bed after they got the news. But still.
