Chapter 6

The room’s atmosphere was thick with anticipation and the faint scent of sweat and warmth from the fire. Orion, now moving with a more primal urgency, had shifted into a squatting position. The intense cramps and pressure had taken over, pushing him to seek any possible relief.

He moaned lowly, his breath coming in uneven, strained gasps. His movements were instinctual as he rolled his hips slowly, trying to ease the discomfort and manage the overwhelming sensations coursing through his body. Each moan was a mix of pain and a desperate attempt to find a position that offered even the slightest reprieve.

Articus watched with a mixture of concern and support, his own heart pounding as he saw the depth of Orion’s struggle. He crouched down beside his brother, ready to offer whatever comfort he could. “You’re doing great, Orion,” he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. “Just keep breathing and moving as you need to.”

Orion’s eyes were closed, his face contorted in a mixture of effort and exhaustion. The squatting position seemed to provide a temporary distraction from the intensity of the contractions, and he rolled his hips in a rhythmic motion, hoping it would bring some relief.

“Stay with me,” Articus encouraged, his hand resting gently on Orion’s shoulder. “You’re almost there. I know it’s hard, but you’re doing everything right.”

The moans continued to fill the room, each one a testament to the laborious effort Orion was putting in. The pain was unrelenting, but the presence of his brother and the slight change in position gave him a glimmer of hope that the end was in sight.

As Orion remained in his squatting position, the room seemed to hold its breath, the fire casting long shadows that danced along the walls. Articus remained a steady, reassuring presence, his voice a constant source of comfort amidst the storm of pain. They were in this together, and as the minutes ticked by, the bond between them grew even stronger in the face of the relentless struggle.
