Madison~
Watching the city beneath through the clouds doesn't feel real to me, it's so serene and quiet.
I just want this to last forever."Would you like a drink Mrs Lane?" The air hostess asks me.
"No thank you, I'm alright." I tell her, but Nathan responds.
"Can I have a glass of water, please?"
And once she brings his glass of water, I can't help but think the way she smiled at him was her throwing advances to him."Thank you." He smiles back at her, and she walks off.
I look at him and he looks back up at me taking a sip from his water, "Has one of your staff ever wanted to fuck you?" I ask him bluntly.
Nathan chokes and starts coughing, but once he calms down he replies, "Are you trying to kill me?" I don't respond to that so he chuckles, continuing, "Well, probably. I'm everything a woman wants from what I've heard."
I turn to the side and laugh, knowing he overheard the phonecall I had with Whitney a few weeks back.
As soon as we land Sebastian is seen standing in front of an black suv. Nathan and I decend down the steps and he greets his PA, and I do so next.
"Hope you guys enjoyed your trip?" Sebastian smiles wide.
"It was amazing." I tell him, looking over at my husband.
My husband.
Our security team places our luggage in the trunk and before I can get in the backseat of the car Nathan stops me.
"Sit in front. I'm driving." He says, and I do as I'm told.
And before Nathan gets in I watch him and Seb speak, the surprised look on Seb's face catches my attention.
I watch them greet each other bye and Nathan then enters the car."Are you ready?" He asks.
I smile at him, "For what?"
Nathan starts the engine smirking, "You'll see."
"Here we go again, you know I don't like surprises."
And all this man does is laugh, making me much more curious.
...
We enter a quiet and rich middle class neighborhood, giving off old but modern farmhouses - the ultimate guide to an American family home.
I giggle to myself.
Nathan perks over at me, "What's so funny?"
"Do people actually live here? I feel like we're on a movie set." I smile at him.
"You'll be surprised." He says, and heads towards a gated community, "This is where our fun begins." He smiles back at me.
Before I can even comprehend that this is not a community but a big plot of land with a beautiful house on top of the hill Nathan laughs at my reaction.
And once we pass the beautiful garden, we're infront of the porch steps of the home.I turn to look at Nathan, "Is this another one of your family's home's?"
He nods, "You could say that." The smile never leaving his face before he exits the car.
I step out, embracing the cool fall air and taking in the view around me, and I see a rose bush and immediately skip towards it. I touch it looking at the exterior petals that's close to dying due to the change of season.
I get lost in my thoughts before hearing a woman's voice."Mr, Lane welcome, I hope your honeymoon trip was spectacular."
I walk towards them watching Nathan shake her hand, and once I reach the front door I greet her as well. "It's an honor to meet you Mrs, Lane." She says and I squirm a smile, I still need to get used to being called that.
"Can you give us a few minutes, Sharon." Nathan says.
"Of course, I'll be at the back porch." She smiles and walks off.
Nathan turns to me, "After you."
And I step into the home.I only take a few steps into the entryway and stop, not wanting to intrude or be nosy but I can't help but look around at the comforting decor and the high-rise walls and the glass skylight above.
I hear the jiggling of keys behind me and turn around looking at Nathan.
He holds a set of keys in the palm of his and and just stares at me, squinting at me, and I give him the same gaze.
"What?" I ask him confused.
He let's out a light laugh and looks at me again, "You don't get it, do you?"
I glance around, not understanding, "What is it?"
"This isn't my family home." Nathan takes a step closer to me and once his right infront of me he says, "Heck this beautiful home is not even Mine. I'm kind of jealous if you ask me." He smiles, staring down at me.
I glance up into his grey eyes, there's a certain warmth in them. He looks at me like the only thing on his mind, and honestly that's comforting.
"It's yours."
Stepping back, I frown at him not understanding after comprehending what he just said, "What are you talking about?"
Nathan bites his bottom lip, smiling, clearly controlling his excitement, "This is all yours. It's your home, Madison."
A shocked expression covers my face, my mouth agape as I stare at this man, not believing my ears.
My hands are shaking, but my body still, still processing.Nathan laughs at my reaction.
It finally hits me, "What do you mean?!" I ask, mid laughing from disbelief. "Is this real?"
He just nods, "It's real, beautiful. My wedding gift to you."
In an instant I let out a scream run into his arms, my arms over his shoulders hugging him.
"Are you for real?!"Nathan hugs me back, his embrace warm and soft, "You know I'm a man of my word. This is all yours, Madison."
I pull back, glancing up at him still with my arms around his neck, my eyes welling up, "I don't know how I can ever repay you."
He thinks for a second, "Mm, well you can start by cooking me a homecooked meal in your brand new kitchen, because I'm starving. What do you say, Mrs Lane?"
I laugh at him, "That sounds like a plan, Mr Lane."
A few seconds goes by and I can't help but just look at him intently, still trying to understand this entire insane situation. No one has ever done this for me before, and I hope he knows how truly grateful I am, not just for this gift, but for everything he has done for me since the day we met.
Every smile, every laugh, every quiet moment of understanding, it all comes flooding back, and I'm struck by the realization that I've never felt so seen, so heard, so truly understood. He truly is a good man.
