Akuma's POVMeanwhile, as Kibishi and Taoreta were on the roof...
"Okay, now that everything is set up, I can rest up for the battles ahead," I say, nodding.
I look at the staircase where those two love birds walk up on and stare at it with a straight face. I remember what Tao said about Mato calling her and wanting Kibi to be with her for that call. But if you ask me, I knew she was lying about that front. There's no signal here, and even if they have some way to contact, it would be a message since it's not that complex. We're limited with the technology, so there's no way a signal would be out here.
Not to mention,
Kibi has that confused expression that shows that he doesn't know what Tao was talking about in the first place. I may be battle-driving, but I'm no idiot.
It's most likely that the person who texted them from the lower area from before.
I'm not sure the reason for that lie, Tao. But I have an idea as to why you did it. But for now, I'll play along with Tao's lie since I trust her and Kibi no matter what since their intentions are for the greater good. At least, that's what I would like to believe as their friend.
I smile.
"Liar," I whisper to myself and close my eyes.
"Who's lying, Kuma?" I heard a voice beside me, which made me open my eyes in shock. I looked and saw Yosei with a curious look and blinked. "Well? Who's lying, Kuma?" Yosei asks once more.
"Oh, Yosei. Ah, don't mind me. I was just talking nonsense again." I say as I look away from Yosei.
I felt Yosei moving around and looking at me in the eyes with her hands behind her back. "You know, Kuma, you're a bad liar yourself. I know you're saying that about Taoreta and Kibishi."
"Huh?" I was shocked that Yosei got that right.
"So I was right, hmm? Figures. They don't seem to be trusting H.U.M.A.N.I.T.Y. after they got innocent people killed. And I don't blame them for keeping secrets." Yosei says with a soft smile.
"Nah, it's not that. I'm sure it was Mato who called them about something. I can't confirm my claim, though." I say while looking nervous.
"You know it's not good to lie for them. Keep that up, and even I won't be able to believe you one day." Yosei chirps, but I know that's not to be taken lightly.
"So what if Kum is lying to them? It's not the adults are any better than us." I heard a voice from behind Yosei, and we both looked back and saw Jir with a severe expression.
"Jir?" I call out to my green-haired friend.
"It's none of your business. We don't have enough of the right to say anything if we also keep secrets from them. Also, not everyone is an open book. Some of us would rather keep things to ourselves!" Jir says, looking angry at Yosei.
"Don't tell me you're covering up for them, too," Yosei says innocently.
"Yeah, that's right. Call the founder and say I'm a traitor. I made a mistake and tried to hide things from those two since they risked themselves for people who couldn't even say anything to clear this so-called "group of adults." Isn't it natural for them to keep things for themselves until it's proven?" Jir says with confidence.
"Wow, Jir! I didn't know you got the guts to say that with a cocky smile!" Yosei says excitedly.
"..." Jir turns silent and narrows her eyes at Yosei.
