act of kindness

We stroll down the steps, feeling foreign now, as I don't know how long he has kept me chained up.

"Would you like to go outside?" he asks me carefully.
A small spark of excitement runs through me at the thought of escaping him.

"Yes," I reply carefully to not gain his suspicion.

"Alright," he says, grabbing something from his back pocket, clicking the cuff on my wrist, and attaching the other side to himself.

The excitement vanishes instantly.

He continues to walk out of bodies, now moving as one.

He opens the back door, leading his body out with his own, shutting the door behind him.

"I don't have shoes on," I say, standing on the slab of concrete outside.

"The yard doesn't have stickers. The woods are not so promising; there isn't any reason for you to go into the woods, though, right? Hannah." he says

"No, sir," I replied, still wanting to be outside.

"Very well," he says as he walks, pulling me off the cold concrete on my feet.

My feet hit the soft, free grass, softly brushing against my skin.

The air smells of pine from the trees off in the distance.

The sun shines brightly on my skin. The warmness felt nice on my skin.

The birds chirp in song.

I had not noticed I had been crying until his fingers softly brushed my tears away.

"If you continue to be good, we can do this more often," he says softly to me.

"I like that," I say happily as we continue to walk on the soft grass.

We approach a large rose bush.

He reached into his back pocket, pulled out a knife, and cut a single rose off the bush.

Trimming away the sharp thorns, he places them in my hair.

I felt a small blush heat my cheeks.
"Thank you, Colton," I say softly.

He softly brushes his fingers on my cheek before leaning on and softly placing his lips on my mouth.
I kiss back, not wanting to upset him, and I do admit he was a good kisser.

"Let's go inside," he says as it starts to sprinkle.
Leading me into the house as the rain began to quicken.

Once we were inside, he closed and locked the door. Uncuffing me from the key in his front pocket.

"Let's go watch a movie," he says, grabbing my hand softly and leading me into the living room.

"Okay," I say, softly following him.

I hear him mumble under his breath, "Definitely worth the two-month wait."

"What did you say?" I ask him, confused.

"I was just saying how long I had to tie you to the bed. 2 months," he says nonchalantly.

"Excuse you!" I was angry about yanking my arm away, but the grip only tightened.

"Tread carefully, Hannah; I can just tie you back to the bed some more. Is that what you want? I thought you would have been on your best behavior with my act of kindness in taking you outside. You are ungrateful," he snaps.
