His fingers brush softly against my cheek, and I see his eyes slowly soften slightly as the stern warning he had just given me dissipates.

His touch was both warm and calming. I found myself leaning into it savoring it, seeking the warming comfort he offered me. He pulled me closer arms wrapped around me as if he could shield me from anything and everything.

"You're safe with me," he repeated with a low rumble by my ear.

I buried my face into his chest, inhaling the scent of him."I didn't mean to disobey you," I whispered to him looking into his eyes. "I was just scared; don't be mad,"  I begged him, didn't want to be chained back to the bed and left in complete darkness again.

His arms immediately tighten around me, and I feel him press a gentle kiss to the top of my head in a soft reassuring manner. "I know, baby, but when I tell you to stay somewhere, it's to keep you safe, okay? I cannot protect you if you don't listen to me. I'm serious next time you don't listen to me I will spank you with my belt."

I nodded; I didn't trust my voice to speak. His fingers brushed through my hair, untangling the strands gently as he held me close.

After a few minutes of silence, he shifted, propping himself up on his elbow to look down at me. "Are you sure you're okay?" he asked me one more time, his hand resting on my waist.

"I'm okay now," I replied softly. I place my hand over his. "As long as you're here."

His eyes softened at my words. "Good. Because I'm not going anywhere."

He leaned down and kissed me.

When he pulled back, his hand slid down to my hip, his thumb tracing slow circles there. "Now, close your eyes and get some sleep. You need rest; you look exhausted."

I nodded, moving to his side as he pulled the blankets over us.

"I love you," I whispered to him. The words felt strange coming out, is this how I felt?

He didn't respond right away, but then I felt his lips press a kiss to the back of my neck gently. "I love you too, baby. More than you could ever know."

The warmth of his body pulled me into a brief sleep.

I woke up sometime later, and the room lit in soft moonlight. His arms were still wrapped around me.

As I lay there, I couldn't shake the thoughts from earlier. Right when I thought I knew what was going on.

He shifts suddenly beside me, his arms immediately tightening around me as if sensing my ever-growing restless thoughts. "Go back to sleep," he mumbled, his voice groggy.

"I can't," I whispered. "I'm still thinking about what happened."

He sighed deeply. His eyes open slowly, and he blinks at the ceiling for a brief moment before turning to face me. "Baby, I told you I'd take care of it. You don't need to worry about that guy or anything else for that matter."

"I know, but I still want to know what's going on," I explain defensively.

His hand came up to brush a piece of hair away from my face, and his expression seemed like it softened even more. "You don't worry about what I do."

"But what if something happens to you? What if I need to—" I say before getting cut off.

"Nothing's going to happen to me," he interrupted firmly and sternly as if frustrated I wasn't listening to him, his hand cupping my cheek. "I promise I will keep you safe, and I mean it. As long as I'm around, no one's touching you. That guy at the door? He's nothing to worry about. Nor is anyone else, your mine, until i stop breathing do you understand?."

I bit my lip. It just feels like there's so much I don't know." I say slightly upset and defeated, not being able to know anything.

He let out a sigh and pulled me closer until my head rested against his chest. "You know everything that matters, baby. You're mine, and I'll always protect you no matter what. That's all you need to know. Now go back to sleep."

I stayed quiet, trying to let his words comfort me in some way, craving normality. The feeling in the back of my mind wouldn't go away. Whoever that man was, he knew about me, and that meant I wasn't as hidden from his world as he wanted me to believe.

After a few minutes of silence, I huffed softly and decided to drop it for now. I wasn't going to get any more answers tonight, and I was too tired to argue. "Okay, i understand" I whispered as I rested my hand over his heart. "I'll go back to sleep."

He kissed the top of my head. "Good girl," he praised me.

I closed my eyes, letting the sound of his heartbeat and the warmth of his body push me into sleep once again.
