I tucked my glock into the waistband of my pants, shivering slightly at the rain that showered down from the heavens.
"Long time, no see." Liu said, fixing the slick raincoat he had over his clothes.
"The fuck are you doing!? You shot me in my fucking arm!" I said, a little pissed at Liu for doing such a thing. I wiped off some of the droplets from my face before looking at him.
"In all honesty, I was aiming for the tire." Liu smirked slightly, walking up to me at a casual pace.
"Great shot." I retorted, rolling my eyes and giving him a friendly-ish side hug with my undamaged arm. "You know this hurts like a motherfucker, right?" I said, getting to the open wound.
Liu laughed slightly before glancing over at the car.
"You can come back to the cabin; a few of the other guys are there. I'm sure EJ could patch you right up." Liu said as he patted my shoulder.
My face paled slightly, and I looked away a bit, shaking my head.
"I'm good. I have shit to take care of, and now a broken windshield." I said with a forced laugh, taking a step toward my car. I paused. "Why did you try to shoot my tires anyway?"
"I thought you were a tresspasser." Liu shrugged, tucking his revolver into his coat.
I scoffed slightly, smiling in disbelief at my former coworker.
"I'm not interested in some reunion. I should probably just get going." I said, glancing back at the car. "I'm sure my dashboard is getting soaked right now."
"Why don't you drive your car back to the cabin? I owe you something for nearly blowing your arm from your shoulder. We could at least try to fix it a little." Liu chuckled, looking a bit guilty from shattering the windshield.
I sighed with reluctance, rubbing my face with my hand. The pain in my arm hadn't dulled, and it would be hell to drive the car in the rain with a bullet wound. Not to mention, Toby was in the backseat.
"Alright, fine, but don't expect me to stick around for long." I said, going back to the car.
Liu nodded with a quick thumbs up before starting to walk in the opposite direction.
When I got into the car, Toby peeked over the front seat, looking at the bullet wound. I started up the car and stuck my head out the side window to see where I was driving. It was a little more difficult, but I managed to get the old rustbucket through the mud and to the gravel driveway of a large cabin.
The cabin was the size of an old house, and it wasn't run down or anything. It was just a bit... antique. I stopped the car, and Liu came over with a large blue tarp.
"We can cover it for now, but we'll have to wait for the rain to stop to do anything about the shattered glass." Liu said, talking through the deep rumble in the clouds above.
I nodded, getting out of the car to take the tarp.
"Thanks, I'll meet you inside, yeah?" I said, partially blocking his view of Toby.
Liu nodded with a flat expression before hurrying up the covered porch of the cabin. His boots splashed in the puddles as he ran back into the house.
I pulled the tarp halfway over the tent before looking at Toby. Going to the trunk, I lifted the hatch and got some fresher pants and a shirt for him.
I tossed them into the back seat.
"Do you know who he was, Tobes?" I asked Toby, curious if they would know the same people.
