When we got out of the car, I grabbed a duffle bag that had some spare clothes and a few hygiene products. I reached for Toby's hand, intertwining my fingers with his. We started to walk across the parking lot, sharing genuine smiles.

"I'm excited to sleep on an actual bed." Toby said, swinging our clasped hands back and forth.

"Me too. If I have to sleep in that car for another night, my spine is going to fold into an accordion." I joked as we walked through the main doors of the hotel. Toby chuckled, and we walked to the desk, where a few people on a late shift were working.

"I need a room for one night." I said, letting go of Toby's hand and feeling my pockets for my cash. "One bed is fine."

One of the women nodded and went to a computer screen.

"Any other preferences?" She asked, glancing up at us.

"No, that should be fine." I replied, handing her a handful of hundreds from my wallet. She took the money, obviously trying not to act surprised, and put it in the register while counting out change. I ended up just telling her to keep the rest.

"You'll be in room 613." The woman smiled and got two cards, handing them to me before saying something along the lines of 'enjoy your stay'.

I handed one of the cards to Toby and gave the woman a half-hearted wave, walking toward the elevator.

"You're so charitable..." Toby said in a teasing tone, bumping his hip against mine. I stepped into the elevator and pressed a button.

"It's better than keeping it all to myself; what else am I supposed to do with it?" I shrugged, wrapping my arm around Toby's waist as he stepped in next to me.

When we got to our floor, I glanced about the weirdly quiet hallways that split into two directions. It made sense that people were asleep by now, but the silence didn't make the place any less creepy.

I finally spotted our room and unlocked it with the key, pushing the door open.

Toby was the first to go inside, and he snooped around the bathroom and kitchenette. I smiled, glancing around the room as well.

"Hell yeah." I said, my eyes immediately going to the bed. I tossed down the dufflebag and flopped onto the bed, laying there like a starfish.

Toby's eyes went back to me, and he chuckled.

"Are we going to go swimming or...?" Toby trailed off, looking at me with a playful glint in his eyes.

I nodded and sat up, unzipping and searching through my duffle bag.

"I probably have some extra shorts we can use, because I didn't really think to bring swim trunks.

Toby nodded and sat in the desk chair, twirling the key card in his hands.

"I have never really been to a hotel before." Toby admitted, glancing up sheepishly.

I continued to search through the bag, pulling out some shorts before looking at him.

"Really?" I questioned.

"At least from what I can remember." Toby added.

I hummed in thought before tossing the shorts to land on Toby's lap.

"There's a first time for everything." I shrugged, walking off to the bathroom to change.

Toby smiled at my words.

Toby's POV:

We made it back downstairs, so it was around 9:30. The pool closed at 11pm, so we would have plenty of time. The door beeped as the card was pressed, and we went inside. The room was a bit echoy, but the place was empty.
