Jax POV
I watch Abby's back as she walks out. I take a breath calming myself after everything I heard. Spinning on my heals, Celeste's a few feet away with her eyes squared on me. The sight of her has me clenching my teeth. I stalk up to her, and lower my head next to hers. "Get your husband now and meet me outside." Not waiting I walk out the side door to the deck.
It's much cooler out here with the breeze from the water, but my anger has me heated, and my clothes feel too tight. I pull off my bow tie shoving it in my pocket and undo the top two shirt button. I start to pace back at forth when the door opens.
I stop pacing and watch as they step out together, John closing the door behind him.
"What's this about Jax?" John asks taking his place next to his wife. I stand there with my hands in my pockets trying to find the right words. But then I think fuck it. Fuck her for treating Abby the way she does.
"Your wife." Celeste jaw drops pressing her hand to her chest.
"Me?" her mocking tone has me fuming, but I just nod.
"Yes you. You and your back handed compliments. And straight forward insults to your sister."
John steps between us with his hands up at his sides looking back and forth. "Let's just take a breath. No reason for us to get heated." I throw my head back and laugh.
"You didn't hear what I just heard in there. And I heard every fucking word." I point an accusing finger at Celeste. "Let me tell you both something. You pay me to guard Abigail from strangers, but I think I need to guard her from you. Asking her why I was talking to her. That I don't talk to anyone? I talk to those who are worth talking too Celeste. Think about that real hard." She looks hurt for a moment. But recovers and crosses her arms over her chest like the crotchety bitch that she is. "I've tried to look at her like another job but I can't. She's sweet, and kind and caring, and good. I care about her. More than you do Celeste."
"Excuse" she tries to cut me off but my hand goes up to silence her. She clamps her mouth shut and her nostrils flare.
"John did you tell your wife what I said when I found out about Abby going to that club last week?" John sighs and shakes his head. "Of course not." I shift on my feet pinching the bridge of my nose. He's such a pussy when it comes to standing up to Celeste. "I knew she wouldn't want to be there. I knew you were forcing her. That's why I took my own car. Just like I knew she would need me walking up the aisle but the bride had to have her way and make her walk alone. Just to embarrass her. And I met her half way anyway." I start to walk away but stop not quite done yet. "And I danced with her because I wanted to. You made her think it was because I was doing someone a favor. I talk to her because she actually listens, and I enjoy talking to her." I make sure her eyes are on mine. "Your comment in there" I point my finger behind her. "That ripped out her fucking heart. She's good at hiding it. But I saw it in her eyes. And you either saw it and liked it because she was right, and you are jealous. Or you really didn't see it because you don't know her at all." John jerks his head back crossing his hands back and forth.
"Wait jealous? Of what?" He looks to his wife first but she says nothing. "You're jealous he talks to Abby and not you?" Johns face starts to turn red, his hands ball up into fists at his side.
"Of course not!" I smirk internally and shake my head.
"Going forward stay away from her. Just let her be her." They both stand there dumbfounded. I wait for one of them to speak. When they both say nothing I walk away again. "I'm getting her out of here. I'm taking her home." As I open the door Celeste pipes up.

RomanceYou're right, Abby. You did see me. I've been showing up there a lot. Just to catch a glimpse of you. And until yesterday I've had no luck." I brush my hands along the clothes hanging as I walk closer to her. "So I sat there for an hour just to wa...
