Abby POV
This morning we all agreed that Jax and I would go separately in his Range Rover incase anyone was watching Sergio. He and the detective would meet up and once they knew neither one of them was being followed would head up to the house ahead of us. Giving them plenty of time to bug the payphone and the house. They'd also be setting up cameras around the inside and outside of the house. The swat team would be setting up outside and be on stand by waiting for the word from Maurice to move.
The ride up was quiet. He's no longer mad with me for going through with this. Now he's just scared about the things that could go wrong.
He pulls up to the bus stop and parks. I undo my seat belt to get out but he stops me to hold my face. "Don't be nervous. Don't think about what he did. Talk to him like you always have and it will be fine. He won't suspect a thing." I nod my head agreeing. He presses his plump lips to mine before letting me go.
I jump out of the car and walked to the payphone, shaking my arms out as I do to relieves my nerves.
Depositing two quarters I dial Johns number that I know by heart and it starts to ring. When he doesn't answer by the third ring I start to worry this won't work. It takes him six before he finally answers.
"Hello?" Show time!
"John! Oh thank goodness you picked up! It's Abby!" The phone goes silent on his end making me wonder if he hung up.
"A-Abigail? Abigail how are you calling me?" I cut him off before he can say anything.
"Yes it's me. I'm calling from a payphone. My phone died and I haven't had a charger. I remembered on the ride up here I saw a pay phone. Jax said he'd be back in three days and it's been five. I'm worried sick and he's not answering his phone. I need you to come get me."
"Oh okay yeah just give me the address I'll plug it into my gps. I'm already in the car." I give him the address and beg him not to tell or bring my sister because I'm not ready to talk to her yet. He agrees not to and says he'll see me in an hour.
I hang up the phone and run back to the car.
"He must've been hiding close by because he said he'd see me in an hour." Jax pounds his steering wheel with the palm of his hand.
"Of course! I forgot. My uncle has a hunting cabin an hour away. I haven't been there in years." That explains why he's so close. "Call detective Maurice. Let him know what's going on and to be ready in an hour." I do as he says when he pulls back onto the road.
He doesn't pull up the driveway afraid that fresh tire marks would make John suspicious. "Where are you gonna go?" Now that he's dropping me off my anxiety starts in.
"There's a side road a little ways down. I'm gonna hide my car on the side of the road and make my way back through the woods. The house has a cellar that connects to the house. I'll get in that way. I'll wait for the swat team to enter before I show myself. But incase they don't move fast enough I wanna be able to get to you."
"Okay. Just please be careful." He presses a long kiss to my lips.
"I will. I promise." I peck his lips for luck and hop out of the truck and start the long walk back to the house. My eyes dart around the trees as I get closer but I see no one. The woods are silent. But I can still feel eyes on me.
I run up the steps remembering the last time not long ago when I first got here with Jackson. Funny how that seems like a lifetime ago.
When I get inside the first thing I check is the cable wire. It's gone. All that remains is the Amazon stick. Not that it would've mattered much. John knows I don't watch much tv, that I'd rather read. And even when I did watch, I definitely wasn't watching the news. I settle on the couch with a book from the shelf. I pick one of the many that I've read before incase he asks any questions when he comes in. Keeping up a lie is easier when there's a bit of truth in between.

RomanceYou're right, Abby. You did see me. I've been showing up there a lot. Just to catch a glimpse of you. And until yesterday I've had no luck." I brush my hands along the clothes hanging as I walk closer to her. "So I sat there for an hour just to wa...
