When I go back to school the following monday, I am absolutely dreading seeing Matthew.
Even at lunch my friends can see that im not as talkative as I usually am.

During Bio im partnered up with my friend Yuri for a project and the teacher walks beside my desk.
"Bridgette, stay behind after class okay." Mrs. Rose says.
"Yes maam." I say a little bit confused. Although its probably her talking to me about my awful grades again.

"Bridgette your grades have not improved since the last time we talked and they have been slipping even more recently."
I sigh. "Im sorry, I'll try to study a little bit harder than usual!"
"Bridgette, it's a bigger deal this time." She puts on her glasses. "If you dont significantly bring up your grades very soon then you will flunk out."
"What does that mean?"
"You will have to repeat your junior year." Mrs Rose explains.
My mouth drops wide open. "Well what can I do to fix it? Extra credit?"
She pulls out a file from her drawer. "Im assigning you a tutor."
"Oh." I sigh. "Its not gonna interfere with my cheerleading right?"
She looks annoyed. "No, it wont. You can discuss with your tutor which times you would like to meet up."
"Great! So who is my tutor?"
"Mateo Sinclaire."
"Like my best friends brother? The super smart kid, mateo?"
"Yes." She says opening up my file. "Based on your records I think you will get along best with someone you know well."
"Well." I reply. "I don't know him that well."

"Hi!"
Mateo turns around quickly. "Lacy's friend right?"
"Yeah."
"Cool." He says. "So, what do you want?"
Leaning up against one of the library bookshelves, I say "So Mrs. Rose assigned you as my tutor because I'm kind of failing all my classes."
He looks wide eyed. "All of them..?"
"Well not all of them! I have an A in PE!"
He cocks his eyebrow "That doesn't count."
I head towards the library table, sitting across from Mateo. "I know it doesn't. So can you help me?"
"Sure."
"Great! Thank you, so Mrs. Rose said that we should work out some sort of schedule for tutoring."
He pulls out his phone and clicks on his notes app. "That is true. When are you not available?"
"I have cheer practice every tuesday and thursday afternoon and I can't do friday or saturday nights." I explain.
"Why?"
"Because that's when all the parties are, and also when I have dates with-" I pause, realizing I wont be going on any more dates with matthew. "Just Parties."
"Okay." He says typing into his phone.
"So how often are we supposed to meet up? Once a month?"
He gives me a gawking look. "More like three to four times a week."
"I- What?"
"Yeah. You don't expect me to magically fix you once a month do you? You are failing like every class."
I have never felt so embarrassed over something like this. Usually the things that I get embarrassed over is stupid things like my makeup looking cakey or something. But this, this is a different feeling.
"Okay fine. So when should we meet up?" I groan.
"I'm thinking Monday,Wednesday, and Friday afternoons plus saturday or sunday morning."
"Saturday. I refuse to give up my sundays for school."
"Saturday it is then." He exclaims and hands me his phone. "Put your number in my phone."

"What top should I wear?" Isabel asks holding up a black top and a red top.
"The black one." I respond. "It totally suits you."
"Hmm, I agree. Im gonna go with the black one."
Suddenly Lacy walks in the door and sits down next to me. "I am pumped up, also has anything juicy happened lately because I am so bored."
"I beat the shit out of my brother." Lexus exclaims.
"Amazing, Violence. I love it." Lacy says. "What about you Bridge?"
I rack my brain to find something interesting to say but the only thing that comes to mind is my new tutor.
"Apparently im failing all my classes so now I have a tutor."
"Ooh, if your looking for a post matthew rebound, you could totally date like a hot nerd."
"Gross." I say.
"Wait, why gross? Whos your tutor?" Isabel asks.
"Mateo."
Lacy makes a pretend puking face. "Okay so maybe forget about the hot nerd part."
"Hey Mateo's hot." Lexus says.
Lacy gives her the biggest side eye.
"I know he's your brother. But he is hot you cant lie." Lexus exclaims. "And Bridgette has a reputation for dating her friends brothers."
"Eww." Lacy says poking lexus.
Lexus just laughs. "Imagine if bridge fell for your brother, Ahahaha."
Lacy looked at me and said "Please dont date my brother. I would love for you to be my sister but I would rather you become gay and date Alice if it means you wouldnt date Mateo."
"I mean... Alice is hot." I joke.
"STOP!"
"The whole sinclaire family is fine as hell." Lexus says.
"Im gonna hit you with my mascara." Lacy says.
