Over the past couple weeks I've noticed that Mateo and I have gotten a lot closer. Like friends?

During tutoring, we spend half the time talking about stupid things rather than actually studying. Like for example, right now.

"You're cracked." I yell. "Romance novels are so much better than nonfiction. Who even reads nonfiction?"

"No, you're cracked." Mateo yells back. "Like an egg. Why would anyone prefer useless romance novels over actual knowledge."

"B-Because It's better. Knowledge is boring."

"I don't know about that." He responds. "When I'm taking a test and I know all the answers, knowledge is pretty great."

I sigh. "I guess, you have a point."

"So." He says. "We should get back to studying."

"I guess." I say. "Oh by the way, Lexus is throwing a party tonight. Are you coming?"

"No." He replies. "I have never gone to a highschool party and I never will."

"Oh." I say with a hint of dissapointment. "Why?"

"I dont like them. Its just a bunch people getting drunk, high, or making out and long bathroom lines. Not my thing."

"Yeah but Lexus's party is gonna be a blast." I say. "You should come."

He thinks about it for a moment. "Maybe...not."

I groan. "Come on."

"Why do you want me to come?" He asks.

"Well you never come to parties. You should stop staying at home and studying all the time and like enjoy life more."

"I would rather study." He says. "I'll enjoy life once I become a doctor."

"Actually I believe doctors work alot so when are you really going to enjoy life?"

"Fine." He grunts. "I'll enjoy life when im retired."

"You'll be like seventy years old."

He glares at me. "Im never going to enjoy life then. When I become a doctor I can save peoples lives and they can enjoy life for me."

"Wow." I sigh. "Thats like, really sad."

As soon as I get home from tutoring I immediately start getting ready for Lexus's party.

I facetime the group chat to find out what everyone is wearing because well.. I dont want to accidently wear the same thing as anyone.

Everyone except for Yuri answers the call.

"Where's Yuri?" I ask.

"Dance practice." Isabel responds. "She texted me earlier and said she'll be late for the party."

"I thought she had dance practice only every other day." Lexus says. "She just had practice yesterday."

"She said she was doing an audition for some dance company so she needs to practice extra hard." Isabel says.

Yuri decided a few years ago that she wanted to be a K-Pop idol as she is half korean and has always had a strong passion for dancing.

None of us are really into kpop but of course we support Yuri!

"Which company?" I ask. "A K-Pop company?"

"Im not sure." Isabel says. "She just said she had an audition at a company and hung up, saying she had to practice."
