"Prisoner 8-9-8 and prisoner 8-9-9, face the wall".
Aimee and Octavia, who were talking quietly in their respective beds, jolted up, sharing a confused look. Two guards entered their cell with a stone-cold expression.
"We are not 18 for another 6 months," Octavia said in a panicked voice.
"There must be a mistake," Aimee said, trying to remain calm.
She seemed calm, but she was terrified on the inside. She wanted to live. She didn't want to get floated.
"Face the wall immediately" one of the guards repeated, taking threatening steps towards Octavia.
Aimee did as asked while her best friend trashed around, screaming at the top of her lunges. she placed her hands on the cold wall as the other guard placed something on her wrist. The blond girl jerked away as it seemed like needles were piercing her skin. She barely had time to look over at Octavia before she felt another needle in her neck, and everything went black.
A jolt, screams, a pain shooting through her back.
Aimee opened her eyes.
She didn't know where she was, and her heart was pounding in her chest.
"Aimee, you're alright" a familiar voice sighed beside her.
She craned her neck to see Octavia seated next to her. She took a moment to look around. They seemed to be in a dropship. The chair she was sitting in was uncomfortable and a seat belt was digging on her torso.
"where are we?" she asked, frowning.
Octavia didn't get the time to answer as a jolt shook them up, making a few teenagers squeak around them. A big screen was suddenly turned on, Jaha appearing on it.
"Prisoners of the Ark, hear me now. You have been given a second chance. And as your chancellor, it is my hope that you see it not just as a chance for you, but a chance for all of us. Indeed, for mankind itself. We have no idea what is waiting for you out there. If the odds of survival were better, we would've sent others. Frankly, we're sending you because your crimes have made you expendable."
Aimee cringed at his words, and she shared a look with Octavia.
"Your dad's a dick, Wells" someone shouted from behind the two girls.
Wells, the son of chancellor Jaha, the one person everyone hated on this dropship, including Aimee.
"Well, even if you do survive, then those crimes will be forgiven. Your records wiped, cleaned. The drop site has been chosen carefully. Before the last war, Mount Weather was a military base built within a mountain..."
Aimee stopped listening after that point. She felt sick, they were actually being sent to the ground. Octavia took her hand and gave it a squeeze, feeling her discomfort.
"We don't know what's out there" she told her with a smile"you gotta take your tough side out."
Aimee chuckled. It usually took a lot less than being sent to earth for her tough side to come out, so she was not worried.
Her thoughts were interrupted by some cheers. She looked up to see that her twin was not only on the dropship, but had undone his seatbelt and was floating around. Her breath caught in her throat. Finn was not supposed to be there, she didn't know he had been arrested.
"Finn?" she called out.
Her brother did not hear her as he was too preoccupied talking with a blond girl named Clarke.
