Aimee woke up a few hours later. She groaned as her eyes opened. The skin on her face was itching like crazy, and it took her a few moments to remember where she was. When she slowly sat up and looked around, her eyes widened. A dozen teenagers were lying around the dropship, coughing up blood. She spotted the blond hair of Clarke, tending to one of them.
She cleared her throat and winced as pain shot through her ribcage.
'Clarke' she called, just loud enough.
The girl whipped around, immediately coming to take care of her.
'Hey' she said softly.
She took a wet towel and wiped the dried off of Aimee's face.
'What happened?'
'Murphy was a virus. The grounders let him go so he could pass the sickness unto us. You obviously recovered pretty quickly. You're strong'.
Aimee took a minute to get all the information in.
'But' she frowned, 'what was their goal?'
Her question was left unanswered as Bellamy bursted into the tent. When his eyes landed on Aimee, he ran to her, almost pushing Clarke out of the way to get to her.
The latter rolled her eyes before turning to help someone else.
'Bellamy' Aimee breathed out, relieved.
He grasped her cheeks, checking her all over.
'You're alive' he said worryingly.
'Of course I am,' she chuckled, 'But I could still be sick,' she added, her face darkening.
If she passed the virus onto Bellamy, she would never forgive herself.
'Bellamy, she's right' Clarke said, 'You shouldn't be here'.
'I don't care,' he retorted to the blond girl.
He turned back to Aimee and kissed her forehead.
The girl melted under his touch, energy flowing through her veins.
He let go of her and rested his forehead against hers.
'I thought I had lost you for a moment' he whispered, closing his eyes.
Aimee stared at him, unsure of what to say. She could feel her heart in her ribcage, beating loudly, yet calmly. He stood up and looked up at the third level.
'Octavia, you okay in there?' he called.
At his words, Clarke slowly looked at him from where she was wiping the towels.
'Bellamy' she said hesitantly, 'She's not here'.
Confusion made its way onto the boy's face, but also fear and concern.
'What do you mean?' Aimee asked, slowly getting up.
Octavia was her best friend, she needed to know she was okay.
'Look' Clarke started 'I sent her to Lincoln. If there is a cure, he has it'.
Relief took over Aimee; if Octavia was with Lincoln, she was safer than here at camp.
But Bellamy didn't seem to see that. His features hardened, and his gaze turned to a glare.
'If something happens to her' he said, pointing threateningly at Clarke 'You and me are gonna have problems'.
He stomped out of the dropship, ignoring Clarke's calls.
The blond girl sighed, before turning to Aimee.
'Your boyfriend sure as hell likes to stomp away' she said.
'He's not my boyfriend,' Aimee mumbled, crossing her arms on her chest.
Clarke once again rolled her eyes before turning away from her and towards sick teenagers.
Aimee squinted her eyes. She had had enough of Clarke's attitude towards her.But now was neither the moment nor the good setting to talk about it.
Her thoughts were interrupted by shouts coming from outside of the dropship. The two girls frowned, immediately forgetting their conversation. They walked out, only to find chaos. Everyone was pointing their guns at each other, a few covered in their own blood. Bellamy and Raven were in the middle, trying to calm the situation around. Without as much as of a thought, Aimee got the first gun she could find at the entry of the dropship and fired it into the air. Silence followed. An ache began in her shoulder from the detonation, but she hid it well.
The 100 turned to her, surprise written all over their features.
'You fools' she said loudly 'you're giving the grounders what they want'.
Still silence. She took a few steps forward.Finn looked at her, proud. When she caught Bellamy's he nodded at her.
'If we kill each other, they don't have to do it'.
A browned-haired teenager walked forward, his gun pointed at Aimee.
'They won't have to kill us if we all catch the virus. Get back in the damn dropship!'
Before anyone could even take a breath, Bellamy had taken the gun from the boy's hands and smashed it upward straight in his throat.
'Not to state the obvious' he addressed Clarke, who was still behind Aimee 'but your quarantine isn't working'.
She looked at the blond girl. She was white as a sheet, dark circles under her eyes.
Something's wrong, Aimee thought.
She was proven right a few seconds later as Clarke swayed as if she was about to fall. Finn immediately ran to her, sweeping her off the ground and hoisting her up, his arms under her knees.
'Finn!'
'Finn don't touch her!'
Aimee and Raven exclaimed at the same time.
Aimee knew there was no way she could have stopped him, he was too in love with the girl to care. But it was still her brother, and the Clarke was sick. Clarke and Finn exchanged a few words in lower voices, before she turned to the crowd to speak in a weak voice;
'Octavia will come back with a cure'.
'There is no cure'
Aimee whipped around at the familiar voice, her heart dropping in her stomach. Octavia had come back and was walking up to the front of the crowd.
'But the grounders don't use the sickness to kill'.
'Really?' Bellamy taunted 'tell that to them' he pointed at two bodies lying on the ground.
Aimee hadn't had the time to notice them, and she felt slightly sick at the sight. She still wasn't used to bodies. Octavia closer her eyes in defeat.
'I warned you about seeing that grounder again' Bellamy went on, scolding his little sister.
'Can we do this later?' Aimee intervened 'What did Licoln say?' she asked Octavia.
The brunette took a breath.
'The grounders are coming'
As soon as she said that, the crowd of teenagers erupted in whispers. Bellamy and Aimee shared a worried look.
'And they're attacking at first dawn' Octavia finished.
Aimee received the news as a punch in the guts.
War.
They were at war.
