December 29th
I wake up to the sound of laughter.
I flutter my eyes open to see Minho smiling at me. That beautiful smile always blows me away.
"Why are you laughing?" I say, in a tired voice since I'm still not fully awake.
"Drool. You're drooling," He says laughing. I quickly sit up and wipe away the drool with my sleeve. "You didn't see it, right?" I say panicked.
"Of course I did. That's why I'm laughing."
"Whatever! Stop laughing it's not even funny!" I say, getting up to use the bathroom. I do my usual routine. I find myself smiling as I remember Minho's laughter. Oh, how much I wish I could wake up to that sound every morning. The smile quickly disappears as I remember what was happening today.
I had planned to tell Minho everything, that I was going to America in three days. After I finished my routine, I head downstairs to the kitchen where I sat down to a plate of an omelet.
"My meals sure have improved ever since you came in my life. But I kind of miss the bowl of cereals I had every morning."
"Really? You miss it? I can have the omelet then, go grab your cereal." He says, about to take away my plate but I pull it away from him.
"It was a compliment! I can't miss things now?"
Minho scoffs, sitting down at the table to also eat. He takes a bite of his food, swallowing it before speaking. "Felix keeps on texting me about his new job. He must be really excited."
"That boy gets excited over everything. He works as a busser in a popular restaurant, and he keeps talking about one of his fellow coworkers that is hot. My guess is that the man is exciting, not his new job."
Minho chuckles, "You're right."
"How is your job going? Or small gig I should say."
"Great. They pay me really well, though they keep asking me to do it professionally. I don't want to though," He says, taking another bite from his food. I raise one of my eyebrows, "Why not?"
"I'm just not interested."
"Fair enough. I personally think you should be a chef. Your cooking has improved a lot." I see Minho smile at my comment, which also makes me smile. I clear my throat.
"Minho, I need to tell you something." I say, picking at my food nervously.
"What is it?"
"It's something serious, and I hope you understand where I'm coming from."
He stops chewing his food and places his fork down. "Okay? You're making me nervous." I also place my fork down and look him in the eyes.
"I didn't tell you this before, but around a month ago I was offered to study aboard."
"What's that?" He asked cluelessly.
"It's basically where you pursue your college studies in another country for some time. But you come back after some time."
"Okay? And you were offered this? How long is some time?"
I take deep breath, "Yes, I was offered this. And I thought about it. I really did think about it hard. I eventually signed up for it. So I'm going to America in three days."
"That's great. But you haven't answered for how long. How much? A week or two?"
I shake my head. "The only time available was for a full academic year. So I chose that. I'll be there for a year."
