Chapter 6: Tears and Truth

Kyla's P.O.V.
Riker and I drove home after our......"incident" at Super Pharm. When we walked in, I saw Ross sitting on the couch with his arm around some girl. I almost blacked out when I realised who the girl was. "C-Courtney?" I stuttered. "Kyla....is that you? How are you?" she asked as she hugged me. Through the whole situation I just kept a shocked and confused expression plastered on my face. Thankfully, Riker stepped in to make the atmosphere less awkward.

"So I guess you two know each other. Hey Kyla, why don't we go outside and hang by the pool deck?" he asked. I nodded and followed him outside. Then Courtney gave me that well known evil smirk. I just turned around and sat on the pool deck.

"So, do you wanna tell me what all that was about?" Riker asked. Remembering the horrific thought just made the warm tears form in my eyes and slowly trickle down my cheeks. That quickly turned into light sobbing. Within seconds Riker was by my side comforting me. I just sat there and cried my eyes out while he rubbed my back. Eventually he lifted me up and placed me in his lap while he wrapped his arms tightly around my waist. I then decided that I should let it all out by telling my best friend what the problem is.

Riker's P.O.V.
Kyla was crying pretty hard. I feel so sorry for her. She's her bawling her eyes out and there's nothing I can do. It's breaking my heart to see her like this. I held onto her tighter as she began to calm down. She pulled herself out of my chest and looked at me with sad eyes. I wiped her tears away with my thumbs and asked, "Now, do you wanna tell me what just happened?" She slowly nodded and I motioned for her to go on. She sighed shakily and began.

"Well, Courtney and I used to be really great friends. We used to do almost everything together, well, that is when I'm not with Becca. Then I started crushing on this guy named Evan. I would go on and on pouring my heart out to Courtney about how perfect and flawless I thought he was. She knew how much I liked him. Then, on the day of my birthday, I invited her to my party. She called the morning and said she couldn't make it because her dad was sick," she said as the tears began to form in her eyes again. I held her tighter as a sign for her to know that I'm there for her. "Later on that day, when the party started, one of the girls on my soccer team, Kristyn, showed me a picture of.....of C-Courtney and Evan making out on..on a park bench. T-That broke me completely. I was sad to know that she was what I called my friend b-but I was heart broken to know that she would do something so sick as to make out with the guy she knew I was head over heels for," she said before she completely broke down.

My jaw was hanging and almost touching the floor by the time she was finished. I can't believe Courtney would do something like that. Especially when she's hurting Kyla. My Kyla! I was red with anger yet trying to calm down Kyla. I pulled her into my chest where she wrapped her arms around my torso and cried. We really need to do something about Courtney. She's tearing our family apart.

Kyla's P.O.V.
I cried so much there wasn't anymore tears left in me. It felt good to let it all out though. "Hey hey hey look at me," Riker demanded. I slowly lifted my head and stared into his beautiful eyes. "Don't worry about her, okay? I'm here to protect you and there is nothing she can do to hurt you. I'm gonna make sure of it. Now, why don't you sleep over tonight and I can take you home in the morning?" he asked. He truly is the sweetest best friend any girl can ask for. I am really glad to know that he would be there for me. I smiled and he gave me a huge, tight hug. It felt so good. His hugs truly are the best. I swear his hugs could cure cancer. "Why thank you. I do try," he said. Wait did I just say that out loud? "Yes, yes you did," he chuckled. I laughed along with him.

Later on that night, Riker, Rydel, Rocky and I were watching old re-runs of Full House. I then remembered that night when Becca and I were singing to Cali Girls and I told her, "You just gotta love them Cali guys!" It was really ironic that I met Riker the day right after that. That was the day I found one of the very few people who care the most about me today. Trust me, not much people find me soothing. I smiled to myself as I realised it was almost 2:00 a.m. I looked around and saw everyone asleep on the floor. I then lay between Riker and Rocky and fell into a deep sleep with a huge idiotic smile plastered on my face.
